Supasundae always comes on for his first run too

    it's a minefield of a race

Gordon sounds quite upbeat re SDB today so hopefully he can run well.

Been a huge gamble on six shooter

he was 5/1 and 4th in the betting when I looked at the race yesterday

        • Lovely performance from SDB. 14s looking good for the Stayers title imo.

          • Tidy. He is definitely a player in the Stayers. The Pertempts form is just outstanding

Grinding performance from SDB today, the sort to love a battle, should have been fav at the weights and ratings, so today’s price was good.

If SDB is the potential Stayers winner then how good was French Dynamite (OR 136) beaten in a photo?
He has only had one P2P and four novice hurdle runs (incl: a win over The Bosses Oscar, a 4th in a Grade 3 to Five O’Clock, and a Grade 1, 5th to Envoi Allen).
Maybe he is a likely outsider in some Cheltenham markets for Mouse Morris?

Probably just ruined a decent mark though.

                • Given all the other market principles ran poorly I wouldn't be getting carried away with that form

thought Ronald pump was given a poor ride even before the fall, was switched several times down the straight and never allowed to build up a head of steam

if the likes of fury road and thyme hill aren't better than these I'd be dissapointed

SDB always needs a race or three to hit top form and 2 1/2 miles would be out of his comfort zone so today's win is a great start to his season.

He's been running with his "mark" in mind for most of his life, and has nothing to do with him needing runs etc.

His biggest positive for the stayers is the course and distance form and the weight carrying he managed in reasonably competitive handicaps.
He's just got to show he can be a high 160's stayer off level weights, in a grade 1.

Think he will and that's a great start. General 8/1 second fav now.

                          .
Exactly. That run today made a bit of a mockery of his early season runs last few years!

                            Agreed.
He was beating the field today as he was entitled to, as the best rated at the weights.
Christmas should reveal a lot more when he steps into the Grade 1 zone, though not sure there’s much to the old guard at that trip.
Apples Jade has won the 3M Grade 1 at Christmas for the last three years, last time by near 20 lengths from Barcadys, Penhill etc.

It would need to be the newcomers that create the rush Stayers challenge this year, Fury Road maybe, but The Storyteller and Sire du Berlais are very good sorts, and Gordon has already mentioned The Storyteller could switch back to 3M hurdles at Christmas, so 33/1 for the Stayers for him probably is not a bad long range bet at this stage.

Not sure I'd say he was beating them as entitled to in view of it being on the short side for him. He's much better over 3 miles and ran like that today being strongest at the line. Sounds like the owners of The Storyteller may go for the Gold Cup so I'd be wary of backing him for the Stayers without cashout.
