Much easier to assess the antepost market when horses stay hurdling from the beginning of the season.
    Yes that's a good point.

I haven't watched McFabulous yet, but I wasn't that excited about him beforehand so he'll have to be one of Lobos' onions for me to fancy him now... He's shorter than Lisnager Oscar, right?

I'm aware of all that, for me he looks special.

When you watch him you'll have the Wow factor. He's very good. I know a good one when I see one and he's good regardless who he's run against.

That was ultra impressive by McFab and a taking performance , travelled lovely and jumped for fun. Like the way he took it up after turning for home and didnt get out of second gear. Pleased I bet him at beginning of season , looks way above average.

Nicholls indicated Long Walk Hurdle was his preferred next race , that will certainly tell us if he grade one horse. The way Nicholls spoke about him on run up to persian war ,you could sense he knows he got a good horse on his hands.

          • To me he looks every inch a Stayers candidate and the spit of Big Bucks in looks and style of running.

            • I really like him, glad to have him as my main dart at the stayers..although if PP wins ill prefer that! Have him in doubles with envoi and honeysuckle..thyme hill now will add him a little more before he runs at wetherby then im happy with my current position

I didn't see him hit a flat spot, get scrubbed along and stay on powerfully to the line?
He looked more like Thistlecrack in style of running. Which he should, as none of them would be less than 100/1 in a Stayers hurdle.

Be honest Lobos, other than being trained by Nicholls he has absolutely feck all similarity to Big Bucks based on that run today did he?

                • Kev makes a good point re the flat spot and whether he is the right type or not....and actually, the RPR is only 144, so lot of improvement needed yet

However, must admit the value of 20-1 post race was too tempting and i topped up and put him a couple of doubles too with other Nicholls ones

Race usually falls apart by March.....so i do think that was a great price. At 14s or so though, i'm not so sure

                  • He did exactly what I expected him to do to that field yesterday; nothing more

                    • I’ve not seen the race but he seems to have won pretty well, but should be against novices with his hurdle experience.

Time will tell if he’s s stayers class, next run will be informative.

We all know Nicholls likes to pick up easy pots through the season so could maybe be that as well.

                      • I thought Mcfabulous looked very very good yesterday, although his price has never been realisitic IMO.
It seems like they will run in the trial at Newbury, and if he's not good enough in that, they'll go chasing.
I have a feeling he is probably just a little bit too keen at the moment.

One I'm keen to hear about is Phoenix Way. Very unexposed horse who was favourite for pertemps before missing the race.
priced up at 50's with 365.
No price on exchange though, and they keep ignoring my requests, so they can get fucked.
I'm going to watch out for an entry, as he may be a horse that's in bandages most of the time.

Do you think he may be aimed at the Pertempts again. Was a strong fav for the race before pulling out. Do we know why he was pulled??

I think he's likely better than a handicapper, but they didn't get him out in time last year.
No idea why he missed the race, or how he is now.
If he comes out before christmas this year then I'll be watching.

A JP horse that is likely better than a handicapper does mean he'll be running in a handicap though if he can

Do you think he is/will be better than Sire Du Berlais this season?

Yep, I expect his first run will be in a handicap.
I hope it's the one at Haydock, that Lisnagar Oscar ran in (and was shite), same race that Paisley Park won year before.
                                Think it's in November.
His rating is 142 now. From memory.
