  • I have neither PP or McFabulous backed but I very much like both horses and they are the two I would want onside right now if I had to choose. I will possibly add McF before the Long Distance but if he is shorter than PP for that race then PP will be value in that on the day!

    • Id look at it the other way

Its the horses who win on the snaff by 20 lengths like douvan or sprinter sacre who are putting it all in

Paisley park is a lazy sod who needs heavily persuading to put his effort in and consequently never wins by too far

Since he's only just doing enough he is keeping plenty in the tank and should have longevity

Last year was hopefully just a freak occurrence and we get to see a peak Paisley take on the new guard in thyme hill, fury Road and mcfabulous

      • I actually don’t buy into either. Horses are like people in that some go through life making everything look a piece of piss and come up smelling of roses, others make bloody hard work of everything and still manage to scrape their way through by hook or by crook. Different strokes for different folks. I’ve got mates that are both and love them all equally - (need an emoji here but they’re all crap).

I see your point but I'm not sure I agree. Altior and Envoi Allen are horses who I'd look at who just do enough. Cruising away on the bridle and woken up for a quick effort to get the win. Paisley is a horse I'd look at who's bottomed out nearly every race he runs. Whether you think he's lazy or not is irrelevant, he has to dig deep to win races, and I'll take a superstar who tends to stay on the snaff than a superstar who grinds it out every time every day. If someone like Mikey Fogarty was PP's jockey Fogarty would get a whipping ban every time on him!

Backed him for the Pertemps as advertised on the day he won, i would want a good run but not a win in that as he may end up here.

Even a good run against PP and co would probably rule him out of the Pertempts.

We decided not to run at Wetherby so we'll look at starting him in the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury, and then we could go to the Long Walk at Ascot next. The plan with him is to stay over hurdles and we'll aim him at all the top races over three miles. Paisley Park is the main name, but apart from him it doesn't look a very strong division and that's why we're keeping him over hurdles. He had a great campaign last year although he was unlucky in the Albert Bartlett – but we were happy because he'd run very well. He's schooled very well over fences so we can do that when we want to, but not this season.

Yet another going to Newbury!! Paisley Park, Lisnagar Oscar, Thyme Hill, Mcfabulous, Honest Vic.......what a race ! If you fancy any of those for the Stayers and not backed them yet , I'd suggest getting on before Newbury.

                        • Yep - that card at Navan may end up more competitive than usual as the Naas meeting on saturday has moved.

Yeah, start creeping that mark down for Sire Du Berlais so he ends up back in the Pertemps.

He is a very slow starter so every chance
