      • Didnt find much, anyone still see him as a threat in this? Was that just a run he needed?

It looked like it turned into a sprint finish and they went steady enough as most were on the bridle in the last half mile.
I think some would suggest he didn't stay, but I'd go with the opposite, and he showed that he needs further, and a stronger pace.
He has to improve for the extra half mile and a stronger pace IMO - there's no guarantee he will though.
He could easily have reached his level and the trip may not bring any improvement.
If connections drop him in trip I'll be fuming.

The best way of getting the thought process across is to imagine what Lisnagar Oscar would have done in that race today.

Having said that, it would have been more encouraging had he won like Summerville Boy did

Well he was 66/1, pushed out with 365 to 80/1, and SUmmerville Boy has been cut to as short as 14/1 in places.

Over 4f more, at Cheltenham, he's 'a threat' as they may be enough to turn that specific piece of form around.....

but no-one is gonna be conclusive for you.... what did you think?

            • I'd be happy with that from TD. Slowly run race, turned into a sprint, looked the winner between the last two but outpaced from the last. A step up will help.

Beaten less than 5 lengths on a flat track by a former Supreme winner who was a close fifth in the Stayers in March - and before that was beaten just over a length by PP off levels over 3m at Cheltenham.

I think that's pretty decent form for an 80-1 shot who may improve for a stiffer test.

Sorely tempted to go in again.

                • I'd wait on those 80s and see where his next entry is and over what distance. If his next entry is a graded 3m hurdle he would probably be decent price and he'd want to be going close

                  May be a bet then

He ran ok, just ok. Will need to see him again. The 66s was a no brainer i guess, nothing ventured and all that,.

                    • Surprised to see Sure De Berlais fav for tomorrow's race. Has he ever won over 2 1/2 ? Always takes a few races to get warmed up and needs further and/ or deeper ground. I'd have Supasundae fav in my book.

Nothing wrong with Mark Walsh at all but I do wonder how he'll get on without Barry Geraghty onboard. He'll now no longer have the handbrake on but his 2 Pertemps wins had 2 exceptional rides by Geraghty. The result may not have been the same without him

I'd agree with this. At 66/1 and now 80/1 you can find the positives but the race didn't have me overly optimistic of his chances come March.

Agree. They were 2 brilliant rides, especially his first win which I think was voted ride of the festival.

Unlike the ride on Glenloe. That still hurts.

                              • Sire Du Berlais has won the last two runnings of the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham and I thought he produced a career best effort there last March when beating The Storyteller back in March. His best handicap form would suggest that he is worth his place in races like this so it will be interesting to see how he gets on here. He does tend to need his first run of the season but he seems very well at home and he is showing me that he could run well.
