With 2 of the first 4 home in the Albert all but confirmed for the Stayers I wouldn't be at all surprised if Mullins decided to send Monkfish down that route as well. He did mention the Stayers straight after winning the Albert albeit slightly tongue in cheek. However, with Thyme Hill and now Fury Road throwing their hat's into the ring maybe Willie will be tempted to do the same as he doesn't appear to have anything else of note for the race but has a few for the RSA.
If anything would it not do the complete opposite? Though I personally don’t think it would have that much bearing on them plotting where Monkfish goes, if it did, it’s 2 horses less now that he has to take on in the novice chase division, one of which likely throughout the Irish winter calendar. There was very little between the AB horses so at face value the form says they are all around the same ability. You’d make the most of 2 of your likely ‘rivals’ going elsewhere rather than follow them no?
I expect Carefully Selected to go for the Stayers this season. Bacardys will likely have another crack. I think Mullins will have numbers there without diverting one of his top novice chase prospects imo

That makes sense, connections have Jon Snow & Francin too so I would have thought those two would stick to hurdling and Monkfish will try chasing.

And potentially Benie Des Dieux and Five O'Clock.
They have a lot of options, and initially I was suspecting Monkfish as a potential for the Stayers, but RR has enough to have a crack at that race already.

Apart from Benie , who let's face it is unlikely to run in the Stayers, Mullins doesn't appear to have a leading chance in the race. Monkfish would definitely put that right. I agree he's more likely to go chasing but at 33/1 with cashout it's a no brainer to have him covered for this.

Why is Benie unlikely to run in the Stayers? As the prices suggest, I'd say we have more chance BDD goes for the Stayers than Monkfish does.

As they've gone for 3 Mares in a row with her I'd say the chances of Benie or Monkfish going for the Stayers are about equal so for me a speculative punt at 33/1 compared to 8/1 makes sense.

Just put in the other thread, just off the top of my head, these are all owned by Gigginstown and look like staying chasin types.
Escaria ten is a red herring
Has to be some value in there for the RSA now too.
Back to the stayers hurdle though, I'm now mob handed with:
Fury Road 14/1 and 28/1
Thyme Hill 17.5/1
Paisley Park 10/1 and 17/2
Lisnager Oscar 25/1
Thomas Darby 66/1
Stakes are in my diary and I'll talk about my own position at some point there, but just looking at Fury Road at 20/1 and 16/1 you'd struggle to back one and not the other wouldn't you? The one who finished ahead of the other is the bigger price, and even the die-hard Thyme-Hill-Was-Unlucky fan club wouldn't believe he's got LOADS in hand regardless?
If I was starting fresh now, I'd probably back Thyme Hill at 16/1 and Fury Road at 20/1 for the race....
