Lacking class is an odd opinion to hold, in my opinion

Bang him in the NH Chase Grade 2, out classes them?
Not very good G1's it has to be said.

G1 winner and two runner up positions in G1s at the two biggest Festivals suggests he has the class to win a g2 at Cheltenham, at least based on hurdles form.

In an ordinary year, yeah, he probably would. Flooring Porter would outclass them all on all known form though.

Corbetts Cross could still end up being around Cocooners level I believe too.

          • ….Minella Cocooner a best 12-1 365 NHC, Lads are 50-1 BANC.

About right I'd say. A fair few ahead of him.

                Who out of interest??

Porter would be one on previous form, but is he the same horse? Needs ALOT to go his way, if they don't, toys out the pram with him.

Corbetts the obvious one, but jumping could still let him down and even though I'm on him for this, not sure he'll even stay. Wouldn't have any others anywhere near Cocooner

Yep, Flooring Porter is fair enough

Corbetts Cross could. He's achieved more than him though so at a bigger price, each way, looks fair to me!

If we narrow it down and he's Patrick's ride, I think people will wish they had the now best priced 12/1 each way.

I definitely think he's a much better horse than Meetingofthewaters and I think he's done more than Embassy Gardens myself....

                  • Winning trainer Willie Mullins was represented by his son Patrick who said, “It was a huge improvement from his first run but obviously he'd had a long time off with injuries.
“He jumped spectacular there and seemed a lot more settled than he was in his hurdling days. Paul was delighted with him.”

When asked if he could be a horse for the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham he added, “He's qualified now as he's had two runs and been placed over three miles. You'd definitely have to put his name in the hat for that.

“There is the Brown Advisory as well, obviously he was second in the Albert Bartlett so he has plenty of class.

“Cheltenham and the festival is a much different atmosphere than here today and he was very keen in the Albert Bartlett. He's older and more mature now though.”

The above from Irish racing. The second part leads me to think the RSA is either more likely or was the original plan as per Run4Home comments about them seeing him as a bit keen. The first part suggests they might go towards the NH chase. Classic bingo

Did not think Patrick will be begging for the ride. Put it that way. Embassy or Meetingofthewaters will be his choice.

You have both Embassy and Meetingofthewaters ahead of Cocooner? Really Lobos? 1 won't even run IMO and the other has it ALL to prove in graded races, he hasn't done that in his career upto now

Absolutely agree with this. Him or Nick Rockett for Patrick, I'd imagine.

I have a feeling Embassy Gardens may go BANC.

Not sure it's that outlandish. William Hills are NRNB and have 6 potential runners (3 with Mullins) ahead of him in their betting, including the two Lobos mentions.

                              8 weeks to go.
In a race that gets him qualified for the race.
Personally i’d have expected Patrick to show far more willingness or likelihood for Cocooner going to the race / being his ride than the above.
If it were to happen. The perfect opportunity, and he never has any issue throwing out a sly comment about horses he’d like to ride.

My happen still of course, and there’s little between Embassy Gardens, Nick Rockett and Cocooner for me.
All around the same level over fences (MC far the better hurdler)
They’d all probably be the exact same price, whichever one is confirmed for the race in a month or so time.

                                Yep.
I had Minella 2pts 25-1 but cashed a couple of weeks back.
It's a terribly confused market right now and very unclear who is going to run in comparison to previous years.
Flooring Porter is kind of confirmed and I don't have him either.
I have got 6 backed though.

Willie only likely to run 2 but could easily run 3 or 4 in all the other novice races.
I personally don't think Minella is preferred in the yard for this race (NH chase), but that wouldn't stop him running in it as he is qualified and something could happen with the others.
Unless Embassy gardens flops next time out I think Willie expects him to be most suited to the race.

Not sure who's classier matters as you've got to run in it first.
And the NRNB prices are so compressed you're playing a lottery on who's going to run or not really.
