Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

Suppose he could be just very, very slow/one paced but he hasn't finished his last two races off well at all. He looks way down the Mullins Novice Chaser ranks. Probably the reason he's running today.

Seasonal debut both times, once off the back of a year off. Probably worth giving him today to see if that is the case now but I wouldn't be holding onto them 2 runs, mullins expects huge improvement from the last day

        • He has the best novice hurdle form of any of the NHC candidates

Flooring porter obviously has the best hurdles form but after that cocooner winning the nathaniel lacy and finishing second to the nice guy at Cheltenham and punchestown is much better than anything the others have done

          He jumps well too

The questions are does he settle well enough to get 3m6f

Does he retain all of his ability after injury

He had quite a good hurdling campaign last year, running Good Land to 4L on debut after 225 days off, he then beat Corbetts Cross before putting together 3 RPR's of 140. The RP had this fella in as one of Gordons dark horses to follow at the start of the season and I remember being confused as to why. Then I looked at his runs over hurdles and his breeding. On paper he should be a much better chaser and be suited by staying trips. He's Gordon's only representative today in what looks a hot race, so he'll do well to qualify but it will be a slog. I am hoping he runs well but at 80's it's pretty much all hope not expectation. Gordon said 'we always thought Landrake would make a nice chaser and, while he hasn't scaled the heights we thought he would as of yet, it is still early days and I'd like to think he can be competitive here. The trip should suit'.
Jesus Landrake cannot jump for shit. Possibly the most unnatural horse ive ever seen over fences.

            Loved that from MC mind

            • That was pretty good from Cocooner. But surely he races too freely to get 3m6f? Would look better suited to the RSA to me.

Agreed. I don't think he's good enough to win an RSA or a NHC. Jumped nicely but I'm not rushing to back him after that.

I think he's got the talent to get the 3m6f against worse horses than would be in the BANC

Interesting to see if they give anything away, or mention him being qualified

I really liked it but have been quite heavily invested all season so was just confirming what I wanted to see - anything

                  • He covered about 3m6f in that race

Paul took him on a tour of navan

Im only watching on my phone so cant see post race comments

Would be interesting to know what's been said

Loved that from Cocooner what a boy

Not sure whether he's keen or just likes to bowl along infront. Interesting to see what connections say post race though. He's put them away with ease there under very little exertion. No doubts about him finishing off his races, he killed them all off between the last 2.

Paul taking alot of positives from the run and expects him to come on again

                          • Did the same thing he did at Leopardstown by taking him around the outside of the course essentially covering an extra mile so have to be pleased with that

                            • Still not sure where he sits. No man's land . Maybe Irish National but don't think he'd stay in a proper run race. Just lacks that bit of class for me for the festival.

                                Grade 1 record:

                                122

Lacking class is an odd opinion to hold, in my opinion

Bang him in the NH Chase Grade 2, out classes them?
