    Atrocious after timing.

    • Maybe from a selfish point of view I would like to see Abacadabras turn up at down royal in October in the WKD hurdle (if they let spectators in) I know someone mentioned before not a great record of cheltenham winners coming from the meeting, but Jezki did? Also a few places including melon. Or what path would you like to see Gordon's runner to go down?

Would say Goshen stands more of a chance of winning than Honeysuckle and Malone Road as only one of these will be running in the Churdle.......

        Sorry, couldn’t resist

Whats the 5 year old stat please

          • That only one 5 year old has won in the last 2 years

To be fair there have only been two 5 year old winners since See You Then in 1985. Katchit and Espoir D'allen, so they don't have a great record overall. And there have been plenty that have gone off at single figure prices. That doesn't mean Goschen can't win though.

I don't think he'll win, but he's just the type that will come and bite me in the backside it I don't do something with him. I can't leave such an obvious hole. How have you guys approached him if you didn't get him at the prices immediately after the Triumph? Any thoughts on how to get him onside?
Ladbrokes are biggest on Goshen at 5/1, but you cant view that on Oddschecker anymore.

I think he will be in the Cesarewitch initial entries in the next day or two, it will be very interesting to see him run there off 88.

Usually plenty of chances in the season.....back him to win a key trial and win CH (be special doubles, plus often better to do it yourself separately )

Failing all, run him off doubles from Arkle, or Supreme.....or any race you prefer before festival

Not backed any of the top 3 yet, other than doubles with Epatante in......and happy to wait for better value options.....prices are terrible on Goshen

                  • The thing for me with Goshen is I really don’t think Gary Moore is 100% sure what he’s doing with him. He just seems very unsure. The horse will of course be aimed at the champion hurdle but I doubt he will be going the normal conventional route. Starting in a flat handicap or two is a strange enough start but I at least understand that. Am expecting some strange entries for the horse that’s for sure

                    • Goshen is 4/1 joint favourite with Epatante with 365.

That is a bananas bit of pricing.

I'll make a statement now that I am quick to jump on others for, which is that 'I cannot understand that'

Is anybody on here of the opinion that Goshen is a better bet, at the same price, than Epatante?

                      • Yeah it baffles me, i keep getting it from pals of mine saying “£5 a week on goshen trust me” yeah he has a monsturous engine but at juvenile level yes! Epatante at 4/1 is THE bet for me right now just got to put it in doubles and trebles because its too short on its ones

No but bookmakers are only laying prices, they’re not backing.
I thought there would come a time, when exchanges started taking over, that bookies would offer a back and lay price for every horse, so if they quote 4/1 for a race they would also allow you to back the same horse at 1/6 not to win.
Until this happens there’s no need to offer value.
I’d love to have a 5/6 horse acca on all not to win...

Goshen is a horrific price Kev. Triumph winners hardly have a sparkling record, and the fact the Champion Hurdle is on the sharper old course will also work against him. He’s unproven outside of juvenile company, who as a cohort have a poor Champion Hurdle record. Gary and Jamie Moore are hardly my favourite combination to get everything right on the big day either.

Of the top 6 or 7 he’s the one I like least, but I’m not sure how much of that is to do with his price, and how much is about what I really think about his chances.

In answer to your specific question. Current Champion at 4/1, or inexperienced headbanger at 4/1 Surely it’s no contest. Anyone backing Goshen at 4/1 want their heads examining in my opinion.

Pentland Hills was the worst priced horse I'd ever seen during last season - after he was beaten twice he shortened into around 6/1.

Goshen didn't even technically win his race and he's already 4/1fav for the race.

                              It is astonishing really.

                              • Truly bizarre. He has no right to be a single figure price let alone 4/1. But presumably there has been sufficient money to get him down there. I don’t get it, and I still won’t when he passes the finishing line first.
