What we are saying is if the race went to plan for both horses then the likely outcome would be another win for Honeysuckle. I do believe now though that Honeysuckle will end up against Epatante and co so I don't know why I'm debating this. Lol !

    • Epatante would wallop Honeysuckle over 2 miles.

      Darver Star solidifies that.

Honeysuckle hurdles like she is using a trampoline, absolutely no hope she wins this race. While she's in the air over her obstacles, little Epatante could run underneath her

For me, Buveur D'air is a more likely winner of the Champion Hurdle than Honeysuckle.

Absolutely. It'll be a big mistake I fear sending my Honey down the 2 mile route but sadly that's how I see it panning out. It will open up the Mares Hurdle though as Benie would still be vulnerable in that race imo should stubborn old Mullins stick her in it for a 4th time. I think the Honey/Benie discussions are going to run and run again !

100%, Honeysuckle is not a Champion Hurdler for me, obviously she can pick up easier 2m options, but think she'd be found out at the festival over than trip at the top table.

I think Honeysuckle has the beating of Benie in the Mares Hurdle now, the problem for Benie being her age now, I honestly believe she'd be best suited in the Stayers. She'd likely win it well too.

Agree COD. She should have gone for it last year. I bet Mullins/Ricci were kicking themselves on how the Stayers race panned out. Probably missed their chance now.

I wouldn't be totally convinced they've missed their chance. She's so bloody good, and with that 7lb allowance she could well beat them with likely improvement at the track over 3m, having only had two career starts over 3m. A replication of that Auteuil run would have her going very close for me.

She'll be one I load up free bets on for the race until her price goes.

Yes, Honeysuckle did jump erratically in that race, and was rated 5lb below her first open Grade 1 win in the Hattons Grace, even though the opposition was stronger, and the race was the Irish Champion Hurdle.
it wasnt her best performance, and it looks like she has better form at 2M4F rather than 2M.

She did hammer Aramon by 8 lengths in the race, and Sharjah 11 lengths, over so I wouldnt solely take the Darver Star/Honeysuckle formline from the race on its own.

I can see her running in the same three Grade 1's again, Hattons Grace, Irish Champion and Mares Hurdle.

We can't ignore the fact Connections did say they may take different route with her though after Irish Champion Hurdle . That can only mean a shot at the English version imo.

                  • Allart backed @ 50/1 Champion Hurdle with cash out option. Another dart to add to Epatante, Saint Roi, Concertista, Honeysuckle and Malone Road.

                        • Goschen is the horse that's going to trouble me all season I think. He's the one glaring gap in my antepost book, and I still haven't figured out how to get him onside. He's a loathsome price and I can't bring myself to back him at 9/2.

I don't think he'll win, but he's just the type that will come and bite me in the backside it I don't do something with him. I can't leave such an obvious hole. How have you guys approached him if you didn't get him at the prices immediately after the Triumph? Any thoughts on how to get him onside?
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

                            Whenever he next runs ...

Yes, I will be keeping out for a Ceaserwich + CH special, otherwise, I think will have to accept I have missed the boat with him.

                              • I've not backed Goshen and don't intend to. Just can't see him winning. The 5yo stat is still one that is hard to ignore. Then again, I was against him all last season and still included him in a double on the last day. Never say never.
