As an example, I don't want Galopin Des Champs in any bets at this stage (price related) so would prefer to substitute him out. El Fabiolo is another I wouldn't include but that's because I've already got him in a high percentage of bets that I've already placed. Everyone will have different views and betting strategies, and that's the good thing about the forum imo

The monthly yankees are great and Middle_Of_March (and Eggs ) does a top job in organising these but I don't think everyone has to follow the bets blindly.
I don’t agree with all the selections all of the time but that’s the thing I’m not right 100% of the time either so sometimes it’s a good thing to have horses in bets that might not be to my liking every time.

I can do my own yankees filled with horses that I want included so there’s nothing lost apart from a couple of quid on putting these yankees on especially if you’re making cases for horses to be included. I just find it strange to shoehorn horses into bets that you’re not placing yourself even if it’s just reduced stakes or a quid four fold acca on the four selections, it’s surely worth doing.

I put them all on for similar reasons to Kautostar; if my own selections all came in I'd be rich! So going for multis that others have contributed to that I may or may not agree with diversifies my investment. I understand that's a good way to invest so why not apply it to betting. It's also the fun element of these yankees imo. With my singles I look at lots of angles including members' bets and rationales then make my own call.

….I just accept the knowledge on here is better than mine so I’m happy to follow the discussion.

I think the monthly Yankees have shown profit the last 3 festivals. I actually cashed one in a few years ago because info on here suggested targets were different and made a terrific gain with PP.

Outside my own calls, they are added interest for me. I do like it that posters who don’t automatically put the bets on still make a valuable contribution to the monthly discussions.

The yankees capture a moment in time, a few weeks for horses that are discussed here, to be slotted in. They sum up those discussions for that period or horses actual racecourse performances as the season develops.

They knock on the door mostly. One of these days one of them will smash it down!!

Long life to the monthly yankees.

….some very bullish comments about Tiger Bay Queen (MNH), I’ll nominate her with 16-1 generally available. Trained by Peter Fahey so might slip under the radar slightly, even in the ownership of JP Mcmanus.

Can’t see her being a crack 2 miler with her breeding westerner out of a flemensfirth mare. Going to need a trip surely?

                A Yankee of
                Stage Star - Ryanair - 16/1
                Kateira - Mares Hurdle - 20/1
                Sir Gino - Triumph - 16/1
Stay Away Fay - Brown Advisory - 16/1
looks pretty good to me if British trainers is the route we want to go down

….I like Stage Star too. Nicholls has already name-checked the Ryanair and says he’s a different horse when fresh so I wouldn’t be surprised if he runs once and is then put away until March.

Personally I'm not convinced focusing on UK trainers is a wise strategy, I like Stay Away Fay and that's one race UK horses have had some success but they others have been a benefit for our Irish friends in recent years...

We need to make a decision on which direction we’re going in or half of the chat will belong in the bin and a waste of time.

If the likes of Russell and Nicholls have a stronger hand this season isn't a UK based yankee a fair shout for a change? Especially ew, and BoH's selections sound like decent selections

Solid suggestions I agree, but when Ireland generally win 18-20 ish of the 28 events I’m not sure UK selections is a great starting point.
I could het with the theme nearer the time when we start to see markets for the handicaps where Irish tend not to target

I would agree with that, if the brits get 10 winners we'll need a 40 percent strike rate !

This far out would should be picking those 95% going to said race with a decent price. Easier said than done mind.
