Ultima off 153 would be a tough ask wouldn't it ?

Seems to go against what the owner said not long ago isn't it? (Hurdles all season) It's almost like these owners and trainers don't communicate very well or there minds and ideas change alot

Win or lose, it's so so important to head into winter with the NHC Gordon horse backed at juicy prices, and sitting in so many multiples. Roll on Christmas.

He can jump a lot better than he did at Tipperary, but it was great to see him winning that day and he was actually well on top at the line. He was a good staying hurdler and hopefully he can progress into an even better chaser. He'll be out again in the coming weeks.

                Corach Rambler won off 146.
Fastorslow second off 150 - put up 3lbs after finishing last of 5 beaten 25l at the DRF.
Ziggy off 156 - can’t see Gordon loving that for the Ultima .
Top weight was 155 this year.
NHC all the way now, surely.

Did well last season and his best performance was winning that Grade 2 contest at Limerick over Christmas. We fancied him to run a big race in the Albert Bartlett, but it just didn't happen for him on the day as he was too keen in the early part of the race. He'll go chasing now and you'd like to think he has the makings of a smart staying novice.

I forgot all about this lad.
Could be he hated Cheltenham but they clearly still like him, doubt he’d have the pace for a BANC but could be another dart for the NH Chase…

                  • 153 in the Ultima actually wouldn't be huge burden. The race has had many horses run well and 2 wins in the 150's in recent seasons.

                    Fastorslow 150 (2nd)
                    Aye Right 154 (3rd)
                    Cepage 158 (4th)
                    Beware the Bear 151 (1st) and 150 (4th)
                    Lake View Lad 155 (3rd)
                    Shantou Flyer 152 (2nd)
Un Temps Pour Tout 155 (1st)
                    Noble Endeavour 153 (3rd)
                    Holywell 153 (2nd)
                    Morning Assembly 150 (4th)

But like Faugheen_Machine says, he's certain to get some tax on that. Which makes it difficult, but certainly not impossible to at least feature.

If they do genuinely have doubts about his stamina, partly due to how the weekend played out, then that may well dictate their thoughts towards the Ultima. Regardless of weight, when they know the race can bode well for the higher rated horses.

It'll be interesting how they campaign him going forward. Elliott's best approach to the NHC is as we all know to give them a lay off during the winter and get them coming into the race fresh. And that also ties into the horses previous in the Pertemps run up.
Doing so would mean he probably does line up 156-158.

I wouldn't rule out one more run whichever race he targets come March, but if we see him take in a couple or even more runs, I think that could suggest, they are trying to knock a pound or two off for when the weights are out for the Ultima.

                    • No Gordon entry in 'that' Cheltenham race on Saturday then. Done deal Salvador?

She had a terrible prep last season and was held up in a slowly run race

I'd be Happy to put a line through the season and back her for the mares chase if she gets an entry

                          She has loads of ability

Agree - def one of interest

Mares was one of those races …2 jockeys rode great rides & the rest got it wrong badly ….just about excuse Davey

The other I’d want to know more about is Love Envoi, whom I thought was a poss for chasing? Tho maybe injury makes that less likely

And poss the ride he got flattered him?

Not at all. Looked to have regressed last season. Cheltenham wouldn't be her course. Sending her chasing just screams last resort imo. Terrible price for what she's achieved. A big no.

Very much interested in her. A proper season planned around next March and she could be a big player. We know she stays the trip
