….possibly. They might know Champion Hurdle is the target if CH goes chasing.

Good grief, best price 6/1 for a novice chaser yet to jump a fence in public for a race a year away!!
Is that what it has come to??

Jonbon was 6/1 before he jumped a fence (and he wasn’t even a festival winner). Appreciate it shorter the year before. It’s been this way for a while.

Unfortunately, if the bookies are getting bets at shit prices there's no incentive to push them out.

Only going to get worse it seems.

….just looked at last March’s Yankee and 2 of the selections were; Jonbon 10-1 (Ark), TNG 8-1 (BANC).

Jonbon finished 2nd in the Supreme. Facile Vega finished 2nd last week & is 10-1 Arkle. TNG won the Bartlett, Stay Away Fay won the AB this year & is currently 16-1 BANC.

Needs a fuller analysis, but it might not be getting worst.

              • One I planned at getting onside was I am maximus NH chase at 20/1, just had a look and it’s best priced 12/1 hopefully he wins the Irish national now

Not convinced by him at all, might be Gordys year to win the NH chase again if he’s the Mullins horse

Yeah, I didn’t take 10 on Jonbon or 8 TNG.
I have had a bit of the 16 for SAF, but he is trained by a proper trainer of chasers, with a fair idea of the probable race, and is lot bigger price than 6 or 8.
I won’t be taking prices much shorter than that though, a year away.

Was 25/1 when I posted and wasn't even sure about him then, but thought just about worth a punt. 12s seems ridiculously tight, although I'm not complaining.

Very fair points and I would say the target for Jonbon was more obvious than FV and we knew / felt confident the winner of the supreme was going for the CH

                        • IAM isn't setting a high bar and is easily passed over for me, especially given his price.

There are better prospects that ran in the AB, imo. Letsbeclearaboutit is just about top of my list at the moment.

Any of about 10 for Gordon would all interest me before I am maximus

He's about the only viable second season chaser I could think of. And his chasing profile isn't a million miles behind GDM, was my very basic thinking. Plus Mullins pointing him out a planned second season novice pre BANC was the final piece for me to hit the button at 25s.

He's 6 or 7lb inferior to GDM and was an inferior hurdler also, so on that basis I can see why you'd be a bit reluctant and expect better (first season) novices to appear.

He's fairly inexperienced as a racehorse though, so can't really rule out progress from him either though. It's not a race I'd want to back anything else in at this point to be honest. But I also wouldn't back him at 12s to be fair

                              • I would be interested in prices last March for the first three home in the Arkle and BANC .
I know Jonbon was 10…. anyone know the rest?
