Although I guess underperforming there after traveling badly wouldn't help his cause for running at next year's Cheltenham festival. So could be one to watch...
OK thanks, I like that, a good performance and his price will half.
    Might have a small press….

The Finishing speed figures from attheraces confirmed this with Stage Star getting 109.3% which was the fastest across all the races over the 4 days, so basically they crawled before having a sprint finish.
Davy rode like a drain all week. Didn't seem to be judging the pace at all imo

      • Sky back up with a 2024 Hunters Chase Market. Ferns Lock at 5/1 which he was for a brief time with Betfair when they had a market up for 2024 prior to the 2023 festival.

I'd hold fire as he may go into graded chases next season

          • Patrick on Gaelic in the Racing Post today/last night:

" As for Gaelic Warrior, I think he could go up in trip and he’ll be fun over fences. Going right-handed, you could let him bowl away too, which probably suits. "

I was really keen on the 25/1 RSA, missed it and now have very little interest at 16s. I wonder if we will get a decent WTAF price if he goes for the 3 mile novice hurdle at Punchestown though...

Fun enough for him to ride?

              NH Chase?

              • Does anyone think GDC will be much shorter than 11/8 on the day?

Obviously target is known and there doesn't appear to be a novice that will trouble him.

But at that price you surely take whatever it is on the day.

                Dog shit price.

                • Yeah shocking to have seen someone tip GDC for nexts years GC already. Could potentially face the likes of Shishkin etc. won’t go off much shorter than 6/4 so why even bother until the day

Wouldn't be a race I'd associate Ricci with, even though he leaves it to Willie. Could definitely be a possibility if JackieMoon33 is right about The Gunner Yeats though...

                    • Really keen to get Impaire Et Pass? down early doors. Turners would seem the most logical but not sure if they will do a Faugheen and go CH he looks that good. Any early words?

                        In a word: Yes.

In a sentence: Yes, but I thought the same about Facile Vega so I'm not sure how relevant my thoughts on SPs are.

I wouldn't be looking to back him at the price until I know he's OK when training resumes in Autumn, but he appears to comfortably be the best staying chaser around and all of his main opponents are either inconsistent at the course (GC/MP/Shishkin), unfashionable (TRW), have been proven to be worse than him (BMG, Conflated, Stattler) or are coming back from injury (LHP). Based on what we know right now, anything longer than odds on would be a gift next March imo but loads can change before then so not worth taking the price now

….I suspect there’s a dependency on whatever Constitution Hill does. I got IEP onside for the CH the morning of the Ballymore. It’s a position I’m happy but not confident with.

Agree with this. Other than there's less to be worried about that with FV. FV had never jumped a hurdle and was entering a division where half the horses weren't even on these shores yet. We know GDC is the best staying chaser in the country. We can also be pretty confident that this years novices are unlikely to be 180 animals. As you've intimated, we're not relying on improvement with GDC, just maintenance of fitness and form.

Kauto Star went off 10/11 in 2008 the year after his first victory. And that allowed for a very credible rival in Denman (9/4). You'd need Bravemansgame to put up a 180 performance in the King George to get those sorts of price in my view.

If GDC lines up next March having had a similar prep to this year, he'll go off odds on. No doubt about it.

I was too slow there, put him on my slip at 16's the weekend but left it, bloody typical !
