  • 2024 Cheltenham - the odds on offer.

I know, I know we’ve still got 4 months until the next Festival never mind looking at offers for 2024 but firms are making the ante-post game more difficult & perhaps this is a way of getting some value for anybody wanting to get involved.

It was last December that the unnamed one was unmasked on here and we were getting Facile Vega on-board for the Champion Bumper. It was also last December there was an offer of 66-1 FV to win CB & a/r at 2023 Festival. Not hindsight, that offer was highlighted on here.

It was last December Mighty Potter won the Future Champions Hurdle at Leopardstown. In his stable tour Elliott stressed anything he did over hurdles was a plus because he was going to be a proper chaser. It was December last year Mighty Potter was 40-1 Turners (33-1 Arkle).

It was December last year Galopin des Champs won 2m 5f Beginners Chase at Leopardstown by 22 lengths. Immediately after that race he was 20-1 for 2023 Gold Cup.

Some folk on here are already asking about FV & Jonbon for 2024 & if last December is anything to go by, offers will start emerging so let’s pop them here in case anybody is interested or indeed any early fancies this far out.

Paddy power have a load of this and next year odds up.

I took the following by mistake (I didn't read that the Tingle Creek was included):

    Jonbon: Arkle 23, Tingle Creek 23, Champion Chase 23 - 16/1 (boosted to 18/1)

I also took the following as I think it's his most likely destination next year.

    Constitution Hill: CH 23, Arkle 24 - 9/1

      ….this thread is not only about ‘doubles’, it’s about 2024 offers and early fancies but adding to Exar Essay post, PP offer;

Constitution Hill CH & CH 2-1; Ark 9-1
      FV Sup & a/r 9/2; Ark 6-1; CH 7-1; Ballymore & a/r 9-1
Jonbon Ark & CC 13/2 (from 16-1last week)
      Energumene CC & CC 13/2
      GDC GC & GC 9-1
      FV Sup & C Hill CH & then both win a/r in 2024 14-1
      Lossiemouth TH & MH 18-1
Jet Powered Sup & Ark 33-1.

I remember last year there was a sky RAB which had jonbon to win the supreme, arkle and champion chase in subsequent years!

It was also December 4th last year Jonbon was offered at 16/1 for the Arkle.

Galopin Des Champs was offered for the Gold Cup on 29th Oct at 33/1.

Bravemansgame, as Paul Nicholl’s promised everyone who watched his Betfair seasonal preview 14 months ago, was offered at 50/1 for the King George on September 27th for 15 months later - Nicholls promising it was the target he had for him for the following season.

They’re on there guys & girls. You just gotta be brave and take them.

The rewards far, far, far outweigh the risks.

Let the bookies make interest from your money a year out, and then with a little luck and forward thinking, you take your huge wad of interest from your capital investment a year later.

The bankers in the city work like this. Why shouldn’t the punter interested on horses?

As resident expert on these type of bets, and I do give you credit for it it's a potential edge sometimes.

I'd much prefer it if you also listed all the other bets of a similar nature that were around this time last year, that don't look so sexy anymore. Rather than 3 that do.

Expand on the bankers comparison ?

Don't think Bolly lays them off either from memory. (might have changed tack since though)
Which is the opposite of what a banker would do.

Retirement must surely be beckoning for this lad soon, doesn't take many at them odds

I like this thread. Missed a few opportunities because I didn’t see them. FV, the son of Quevega would have been a easy free bet at them prices, but missed the posts :-(

                    ——————-

I’d be interested in Jet Powered for Arkle ‘24

Near enough Supreme bound. Looks like a chaser. C-Hill likley to remain over hurdles and if not, for what ever reason, that champ hurdle could be top notch with this years novice hurdlers and the likes of vaubon returning

Henderson has done this route many times before, sprinter, shishkin, altior, jonbob… chantry house was slow but ended up in turners and winning that after Envoi fell.

I’d be happy to back him this far out as long as price was ok

….it’s a fair point but I only quoted the ones I took (inc Potter for Arkle) because of strong views on here. You don’t have to take all the offers, you only take the ones you like. You have to be selective, reasoning behind your choice. I highlighted the 66-1 FV offer suggesting it could look very good once he runs.

One I’ll be looking for is a price for Spanish Harlem in Turners & BANC markets. Started off in the same race as GDC & Mullins indicating everything is geared to him being a chaser.
