  • Ruby fascinating as always on RTE commentary, analysing the jumping of Sir Gerhard in running after he ploughed through the last in the straight first time round

    • Decent enough debut bar the mistake obviously, and looked like once he'd warmed up and got racing he improved his fencing.

Pretty happy with that as a backer!

Same. I'd like another run if he can squeeze one in. If he can't then Fez may come too soon.

        • Willie not being sure what to do with SG suddenly makes a lot of sense after that.

          He was fine.

Hate races like that though. His backers will say 'only one mistake I am happy' and his opposers will say 'likes to leave his hind legs in a fence doesn't he' and both groups wouldn't be wrong.

Just a case of need to see more.

          • Immediate thought is can’t jump like that in an Arkle or Turners.
Other than that , no idea.

I would agree with this, even as a backer of his.

              • Was hoping Largy would be ridden out at the end to see how far he was beaten by to give a rough guide to see how Sir Gerhard is compared to Gentlemansmansgame but disappointed to see he was eased after jumping the last

Thing is, he can't jump well enough for a CH, and the longer the trip the more obstacles to lose ground at! Does become a proper enigma but would maybe solidify for me that middle distance is best for him.

Isn't slick enough for 2, too many obstacles at 3m

                    • He seemed to jump very low to my eye, which probably attributed to the mistake at the third fence.

Was then very slow at the next fence, probably because of what happened the fence before.

Thought once they turned for home he jumped the last 3 nicely and pulled away as expected.

Not sure where that leaves him in all honesty, would much rather see another run as Lobos says and think he needs another prior to a novice chase at the festival.

                      • 2 half mile or 3 mile said Willie for Cheltenham. Maybe edging towards 3 miles as he's not well represented in it yet..

                        • Another novice race that leaves more questions than answers...

I wouldn't be piling into him for Cheltenham, if that turned out to be his next engagement.

Wow, I'd be amazed if he went Banc, without another run.
someone got 1000-1 on exchange as well.

I'd make no festival appearance fav after that, held back for Punchestown
