Those that have taken the Nube Negra today and CC before the Edwardstone withdrawal could be onto a very shrewd bet. If he's successful today I'd be pretty certain they'll keep him fresh and go straight to the CC.

Alan King on Edwardstone....
He said:”I wanted to give him a race before the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown next month, but Edwardstone is a big, heavy horse who enjoys getting his toe in, and I can’t risk him on ground that is on the tight side.
“It is a long season and it is nobody’s fault. I am not putting the blame at anyone’s door – it is just unfortunate and, having walked the course yesterday, it was an easy decision to make.”
We are promised rain this week, with Ascot, who race on Saturday, expected to get a drenching on Tuesday – the forecast is for around 16mm on the Berkshire course.
With Edwardstone having a mark of 161, the two-mile handicap chase might be “an unattractive option”, but Alan will make the entry on Monday and stresses that “it will either be Ascot or we will go straight to Sandown.”

Latest from Alan King in the Post tonight - doesn't sound great for his Tingle Creek chances...
“I had to go somewhere with him and this wasn’t the first choice,” King said on Thursday. “I was desperate to run in the Shloer Chase last week at Cheltenham, but the ground was not suitable for him so we couldn’t run him there. I didn’t want to wait for the Tingle Creek and go there first time with him.”
“I think going to this race at Ascot would probably rule out Sandown for him as it’s only a couple of weeks between the races, but I didn’t want that race to be his first one of the season,” he said. “We’ll run him on Saturday and then we’ll be in a position to make a plan with him.”

Edwardstone looks to have a very difficult if not impossible task giving upwards of 10lbs tomorrow and almost 2 stone to Emmet's horse who is fit and in decent form. What di we think of his chances? If he were to win what then re his Champion Chase chances ?

If you've backed him for the CC then I don't think it's an ideal starting point to be honest. He's obviously giving away weight to the rest but it'd still be disappointing if he was beaten and may well result in them looking at going up in trip. And if he wins then he's just beaten a bunch of inferior horses and not really done any positives to his chances in an open company grade 1, wouldn't expect to see much of a reaction in the CC market anyway. Bit of a lose/lose situation in my opinion!
If I fancied him for the CC I'd be tempted to play it as rolling singles starting with Saturdays race...
