I was looking at doing something like this earlier in the week and you've just convinced me. It wouldn't surprise me if Monmiral, Jonbon, Edwardstone, Shishkin and GDM don't like up.
I've done small ew doubles of Unexpected Party will Captain Guinness and Funambule Sivola.
Not Dunvegan ?
I know the dublin festival race looks a bit of an oddity but he finished well enough in front of Greaneteen & Guinness that day.
Just seen shishkin has been cut into 8/11 pp and 10/11 sky and greaneteen has been pushed out slightly, any news, or are the bookies trying to lure in punters. Seeing as there is still no rain forecasted I’d assume it’s the latter?
They do have Kempton at Xmas and the Clarence House at Ascot towards the end of January as options to get them spot on in March, if needs be.
But yes, probably not ideal to get them ready and then not run.
Seems utterly bizarre to me. He shouldn't even be considering March at this stage as he has no idea if the horse is worthy of that level (not imo). It should be all about winning a grade 1 (or 2) right now

Going Report was Good to Soft mostly on the Chase course.
Must be putting enough water on.
From that report I could see the big guns all declaring, and tracking the ground at Fridays meeting.

A very good point made and further reason why he should run Saturday. They do need to know just how good he is.

Well it does seem that these days trainers do think about March.
They will have a good idea how good he is already I imagine, he had a very good season last and for me it’s getting him on a racetrack with conditions suitable and going from there.Once that’s done, then yes of course he may tell them more re his ability and which races to target later, and depending on that, for me it’s the QM or Ryanair.
I was merely pointing out the options if conditions don’t suit at Sandown.
The last thing they need is ruining his season running on unsuitable ground.

Until I see differently, I still consider Shiskin to be very much the horse who can beat Energumene. I'd like to think that Hendo and Nico have an idea if Shiskin still retains his ability or not.

Yep. Was chatting to racing mates about this at the weekend and the fact that Shishkin remains 4/1. We were all over him last season and couldn't see him getting beat. As you say, if he's back in full training now and ready to run then we really should trust that he's over his issues. At that price it doesn't take much to get him on board to a reasonable level. Win the Tingle Creek impressively and he'll most likely go favourite again.

Yep.
King has already said he'll be walking the course Friday. They are desperate to run. He's had a spin around Nicky's gallops which King said went very well. He's fit and ready to roll.
A bit like Newcastle with CH, looks like they are desperate to have Shishkin at Sandown. 7.5mm put on yesterday and a further 5mm to go on today to maintain current conditions . Currently Good/Good to Soft (60/40) on chase course. Cold and overcast should stop it from drying further.
Shishkin, Greaneteen and Edwardstone are set to clash in the Grade 1 Betfair Tingle Creek at Sandown on Saturday just days after British trainers were criticised for being too risk-averse when it comes to pitching their best horses into battle against each other.
Shishkin’s trainer Nicky Henderson embraced the challenge by saying “it’s the way it should be” after putting aside reservations about the potential suitability of the ground at Sandown, with Alan King making the same call with Edwardstone after being forced to miss two previous engagements due to drying underfoot conditions last month.
I think Edwardstone was never really given the credit for his season, and whilst you'd assume Energumene is comfortably ahead of GDM, an injury or poor perforamnce to just one of Shishkin or Energumene at any point gives you a really solid looking stab at getting a fav beat...
