Just to add, Edwardstone has had 20 races in his life and just 1 of them has been above 2 miles which he lost.

Also in to 11/4 for the GC! Seems as though they’ve just hacked his price across the board.

Then if he beat NN, you could roll your winnings onto any revised prices for the QMCC, or just keep them, if you're not that impressed.

He won't be taking on the two top-notchers in November, so the market shake-up (if any) won't touch the top of the market.

Depends on if you bookbuild or not.
Bookbuilders have to back him pre-Schloer, I would say.

If you don't then you're at complete freedom to play the Schloer as a win bet, with any-to-come going onto the Ryanair or the QMCC or staying in your pocket.

Personally, I think Energumene, Shishkin, Gentleman De Mee are better than him (maybe Ferny Hollow too), so theres no rush at all to back him for March, but I may back him for the November race, once I know the likely field.

And to add further, at this point, I would probably have him as a potential no 2 for the Ryanair behind Allaho, rather than number 3, 4 or 5 for the QMCC.
Thanks Saxon, I'm going to give this some proper thought over the coming days as it would be a deviation from how I usually approach things.

I definitely don't build a book, small select team for me!

"A body scan revealed a rare bone condition, which caused intermittent lameness. His latest scans were good and I'm told he's not prone to it"

That doesn't reassure me at all that it won't happen to shiskin again

You either take that risk and back him or not back him. I'm going with the latter even if he turns up on the day having won every race this season.

The fact it caught them so off guard + I thought Nicky looked real fidgety when talking about Shiskin injury in the Tour, didn't come across as confident

                      Not prone to it

Sounds to me like he's been told it could happen again but didnt want to actually say it

Time for a few more doubles featuring energumene I think

He's slowly becoming one of my key horses of the week

I know a few are keen on GDM here but I reckon this is an early suggestion that he could skip Cheltenham, from the Mullins stable tour.

"I’d like to get a run into him before the Tingle Creek, but I’m not sure I’ll have enough time to do it. Looking further down the line, his connections like to have winners at Aintree, so we will have that in the back of our minds with him."

Won at Aintree after missing Cheltenham this year, so a repeat could well be on the cards?

A possibility. He does have Energumene and Ferney Hollow who will also be aimed at the race and won't go to Aintree so can see Willie potentially going that road. Can't imagine he'll throw 3 darts at the Champion Chase, not his style. Edwardstone could be a very good bet for the Tingle as well. No Energumene, No GDM and probably no Shishkin.

JP has never won the Champion Chase. Sure he likes a winner at Aintree, he certainly likes his winners around Prestbury Park also. If GDM is good enough, don't see why he wouldn't be aimed there. Can always take in Aintree also, its over 4 weeks after the Festival next year, was only 3 and a few days after this year..

Namechecked Blue Lord for the race twice now too! Must admit, he’s one I thought would step up in trip.

But he didn't run at Cheltenham this year and Willie said being fresh at Aintree helped him win. Willie does have a super strong hand in the champion chase this year, Energumene, Ferney Hollow, GDM and Blue Lord. He won't run 4 in it, he probably won't run 3 in it. 2 max I'd say. Energumene and Ferney Hollow if he stays fit would be my guess.
