No, it was Ferney but he was referring to conditions of the races as opposed to distance. Just me getting it wrong which is very unlike me..........

Fairly sure when he said intermediate route he meant taking in Grade 2 & 3’s to gain experience rather than throwing him straight into Grade 1’s.

Ferny Hollow declared for the Grade 2 chase at Navan on Sunday.

Up against last season rival, Riviere D'etel, who is weighted to be on par with Ferny, so it won't be easy. Captain Guinness & Andy Dufresne also run and receive some weight.

Ascot penciled in for Edwardstone next Saturday then a crack at Tingle Creek if all is well. Ground should be ok as plenty of rain next week.

                          yeah.
Just didn't expect he'd run in a handicap off that mark.
                          So didn;t look there.
                          But he's entered up

Be interesting to see how Ferny Hollow gets on today. As talented as he is you have to worry a bit about the injuries catching up to him. Think he beat Riviere D'etel by about 1.5 lengths last time, so it'll be interesting to see how close she gets to him today. Part of me wants to back Riviere today, mainly because of the Ferny doubts that I mentioned, but not really a big enough price to take the chance.

It doesn't look that tough a handicap though and it fits nicely as a prep for the Tingle Creek. Lots of rain about next week so finger crossed he'll get a run. GDM let the novice form down again yesterday so he has something to prove. That said, King rates him up there with the best of his 2m chasers in the past so that's encouraging.
