  • I know you can't translate bumper form too literally but the 2nd (Springwell Bay today) and Carnfunnock (Ayr recently) both absolutely smashed in today. Adamantly Chosen beat Springwell Bay by 3/4 length with Carnfunnock a further 9 behind.

The front two cleared away from the whole field in that Land Rover Bumper.

Both could be very good based on what Springwell Bay did today.

Four of the next five home have all won since that race, too.

      • Springwell Bay carried a stone more than Adamantly Chosen that day, and comes out as the much better horse. The fact that he's backed it up today makes him very interesting. It was at Rasen so they may be cautious with his RPR, and it remains to be seen what they give him after been so heavily eased, but I could make a case for him hitting 130 or very close to.

That's correct, it seems like RP took into account the jockeys claim on cards/results.

              • B365 have priced Springwell Bay at 20-1

I'm not betting it but I do like the form. And thats a fair price.
Land rover bumper is a tough one to weigh up as the prize money is good but the record of winners is mixed at best.

Also would you want to back Jonjo in a novice hurdle at the Festival? Been a few years since he’s dined at that table.

I remember a stat from years ago that Jonjo hasn’t had a festival winner at a distance of under 21f, quite an old stat that but I can’t remember him winning much in recent years so could be that stat will hold.
I know each horse is different but a stat like that does suggest training methods benefit stayers…

I’ve spent the last 6 months trying to erase that race from my memory & you have to go & bring it up…

Yes the words ‘I think he’s blown his mark sweetheart’ after my 15 year old daughter picked him out are still ringing in my ears

So he did, that got erased from the memory a bit quick, worrying.
I assume that's his first festival winner at the distance of under 20f ?
Not that it's impossible I've forgotten more...
