Spot on Odin, his running style in bumpers screamed stamina and Bartlett imo.

Have backed for both, with a preference for the Bartlett. Now you never know until they run, so if a 3m potential horse is spoken off as having a lot of class, I think you always need to cover the potential of the shorter trip

      • Has anyone heard anything regarding Gerri Colombe?

I have sent an email although I'm not optimistic with regards to my chances of a response.

If you're on Twitter it may be worth asking Brian Acheson, who owns the horse. I'm not sure if he's as active as say Max McNeill, but he may get back to you.

I will do exactly that. Cheers.

              • I just got a response from someone at Robcour, I wont say who to save them potentially being swamped with questions, but they answered very quickly and seem a top lot! Anyway, it's a positive one:

"Gerri is all good - like a lot of horses over the past month or so he’s just been waiting for soft ground which we just haven’t had up to now! Should be out in a maiden hurdle over the next few weeks once it’s safe ground"

Nice to get an update! Once I’d seen he wasnt entered for the lawlors I took that as him not being good enough to win a Ballymore given that Gordon has 4 others entered.

I expect these are Gordon’s best 4 and he’ll look to split Ginto and HG between Ballymore and Bartlett, and Potter and TSL between supreme and Ballymore

also Is anyone concerned that the only robcour entry is Journey with me? If they don’t have a Ballymore horse good enough elsewhere could they be looking at this now rather than the Bartlett?

                    • DeeBee the entry doesn't worry me as I don't see how he can run in a maiden hurdle and the lawlors in three weeks. It does however confuse me as I don't see how they can run in both races in 3 weeks

Sorry just seen Grand Jury is robcour so that makes me feel a little better!

Bob won on the 18th December (I know was his 2nd run over hurdles) and then won the Lawors on 13th Jan which was a rescheduled race from the 10th Jan from memory so just over 3 weeks. The rain has arrived now so as long as the races are there…

Lawlors has now been rescheduled to very early Jan I believe? Like the 2nd or something. If that's true, I don't see it happening. A few of us are expecting the minella Indo route now - Limerick maiden over Xmas then February grade 3 (at naas/navan off the top of my head) - this is on the expectation he is a Bartlett horse

I would agree that the lack of Gerri Colombe entry for the Lawlors is hardly a promising sign, but it's worth nothing that all Gordon Elliotts entries for it have had at least one run so far this season, in fact all but TSL have had 2 or more. So maybe it's that? Or maybe not, I wouldn't pretend to know but i'll naively hold onto it as a crumb of comfort for the time being!

Robcour also have Grand Jury entered for the Lawlors. (Edit: Sorry just seen your follow up-post, I got distracted mid-post, continue to find it outrageous that people are firing busy work e-mails around on a Friday, that's what Monday's for!)
