  • Better mention that off you go, is in the same race. He's absolutely no mug. (Although Charles Byrnes may leave him out the back to look like one)

Against Fakir too, should be a cracker!
Really excited for this and two of my main fancies.

        • No where near fluent enough for an Arkle, I am cashing. He's still 20/1 so if things improve next time I may go back in but he's not one I want in my book after that.

          • Didn't think he was that pacey.
Olly may well have done JLT backers a favour there.
But a strongly run arkle on softish ground could still help old one paced Thomas.
I'd say they'll end up in JLT now though.
But it was his first attempt so we'll see next time.

            • Never understood the hype with him.....Won’t win an arkle or jlt move on

              • Trainer didn’t give any confidence beforehand regarding the jumping. May improve but happy no cash parted on that front.

                • No harm done, that's the beauty of cash out.

                  • Winner was given a pretty good ride, slowed down mid race then kicked, which turned into a speed test and put his jumping under all sorts of pressure.

TD Wasnt so bad today, but in terms of winning at the highest level, it's nowhere near. Unfortunately.

                    • Having just seen Thomas Darby - slowly beginning to look like a cheltenham specialist.

We have Melon this weekend. Undoubted cheltenham specialist. I have my suspicion that Melon will likely disappoint until March again and his price's may well become more attractive when he gets beat once or twice.

But - This is fences and he may well like them.

I must admit I'm not 100% sure what to expect from melon. Could be either end of the spectrum.

He's obviously down in class. But fakir would be the only one (bar his own stablemate laurina) which you just wouldnt want to meet pre chelt. Fakir has plenty of experience over the fixed brush, jumping shouldn't be an issue. They both probably want to make all, too, to see the best of them.
I just hope it's a properly run race, and the best one wins.

I'd like to see Fakir run well, as I welcome the fact that they're going chasing with one of these French horses at age 4 going on 5.
Think more should do the same.
Make the most of the talent between ages 5-7 over fences.

Would be nice to see Melon run well too, but don't carry any money or faith for me. Although I would never rule him out running a good race in March, and may well back him at some point.

Melon will be < 5/1 if he wins.

But I'm probably right in thinking if you took the 10s today, and he diddnt win, he may go out to 20s, and you'd take quite the hit on cashout.

If hes really good, and anyone wants to back him, you'll have to be either extremely fast kn the run in, or own a bet stars account. Who take an age to clip.

B365 will likely suspend for that race - going on this seasons track record.

But - for me, Melon is one I'm always going to try and get beat with something else, but might back if he's a bigger price and not considered as much in the market (for the festival that is).
So, perversely, I'm more likely to back him, the more he loses in the run up.
