I've him backed, i wouldn't say it's a mega confident fancy, but his form is solid + there's plenty in there that won't run.
Sounds like we've backed him for same reasons and I'm hoping he is very good but like you it's not a mega confident fancy, but it's a 25/1 shot not 2/1 so let's hope for a good performance first time out
And that's a good point you make about him not wanting soft ground and still running well at Cheltenham, so fingers crossed

          • Has anyone heard of any chasing plans for bapaume this year? He has never looked a chasing type to me but he’s priced up in the arkle/JLT?

I'm to blame for the Arkle prices. Not heard anything other than he'll be going novice chasing.

              • Looks like Rathhill might be staying over hurdles. Nicky does not sound 100% sure though. Think Billymag and a few others might like to know. Apologies if its already been posted.

                • Thats not exactly the news i was wanting to hear today!!!! At least most of the bet is any race, but at 22/1 its a pretty tragic price if hes staying hurdling and ill be lucky to get out of the bet at break even with the help of the Betfair Exchange.

Might end up being one of the market leaders for the coral cup.

                    • Yes that would be quite a result to be honest. He was one of my biggest bets. 135 at the moment will surely be too tempting for Nicky in something in the coming weeks. Not sure he would throw him into a Greatwood with only 2 runs behind him, but he'd be very interesting for a race like that if he has "maned up" since his Sandown run.

Cut again over the weekend, in to 8's, as per every other bookmaker, except 365, who are 14's, a massive difference.

Tempted to cash JLT bet, I had word Arkle was the target, but personally I think she'd be just as effective, if not more so, over the longer trip, PP/Betfair are now making me think Arkle is the one. Plenty of time though, as she'll not be out for a few more weeks at least.

                          I'd leave both.

Even if Mullins came out and said she'll run in the Arkle (which he won't say)... they wouldn't push her JLT price out for months and months yet.

If she wins on debut she'd shorten again for both... so we'll have a decision to make whenever that comes, but I'd not expect it for a month or so yet anyway

                          • Probably bang on Kev.

I'll keep chipping away at the Arkle price though as will part cash as we go forward in the season.

                            • That could well be the plan if he is staying hurdling. Henderson would have 4 potential darts if you included Rathhill so which ever are not up to grade 1 in open company (bvd aside) may find a handicap or rerouted to fences as the plan

                              • Caved and added 2pts Laurina for the Arkle. Looking at oddschecker and seeing all 8's except 14/1 with cashout was just too much.
Just an opportunity that had to be taken with that concession. Impossible not to back the Mullins horse in the Arkle so even despite my reservations on her and how I thought she may have gone Mares...it just makes sense.

Cashed out Pic D'Orhy or this and also one of my Laurina (mares) Paisley Park doubles so it's more me tweaking my position without (or that's what I tell myself!)

Don't have the same interest for her in the JLT. Mullins of course has a very impressive record there too but there's potentially a better pool of horses in there that i'd side over her (Allaho, Thomas Darby, Birchdale, Samcro) and you may have a couple from the RSA market drop down there too such is the strength there. Right now the higher calibre horses are the stayers so I really am against her (until she proves it) outside the Arkle.
