If she wasn't a Mullins horse she's have less chance of winning it though.
I don't know exactly how much, but he's definitely a positive and it's factored in to the price for that reason.
If I get put in charge of training Gauloise from tomorrow, what price would she drift to

Upping the ante they gave Gauloise as the bismark of the meeting, plenty dont like her.
Thats why youre still getting great value on her.Last edited by Energumene; 19 January 2021, 08:56 PM.

Elite form is established at the festivals when high level racing fully exposes them, not at Thurles in December. Although beating a mid 100s G3 placed flat horse isnt bad going in the context of the mares novice hurdle division, her form isnt why i fancy her.
Apparently many people dont see her quality and think shes priced purely on being trained by Mullins, but her profile alone entitles her to massive respect given the history of the race. If she wins the solerina in decent style youll be lucky to get 9/4.

The mare for me who has had very little coverage so far is The Glancing Queen. Just like Let’s Dance & Consertiesta she is an experienced novice so has plenty of racing experience under her belt even though she spent a number of months off the track injured. She has competed in some strong races this season most notably her last race where she was beat by the current Ballymore Fav. Am I right in saying that Alan King has recently mentioned the mares novice hurdle is the most likely target for her?? I think if she was trained by Mullins she would be the current Fav.
shes got experience at Cheltenham from coming 8th in last years Champion Bumper and won the Aintree grade 1 bumper the previous season. If you look beyond the Willie Mullins factor shes an obvious genuine challenger to win this race. It’s so obvious I’m confused as to why I’ve been ignoring her up until this week and now I think I’m going to pull the trigger whilst she’s still double figures

I can understand why Gauloise is the price she is. Take Royal Kahala out of the race and your aren't left with many credible challengers ?? She should perhaps be shorter imo. For EW backers, can you see her out of the first 3 ?? No, neither can I. She must be value then.

Write Skyace off at your peril, with so many not running here or maybe not good enough the 20/1 4 places Betvictor looks good value for what she has done so far, been a dream few months for the syndicate.
Already on Gauloise & Hook Up but will add Skyace at those odds ew.

She's the obvious one at this stage + will put her credentials on the line in the Solerina. If she wins that well, she'll be "hotpot" material. But she'd have to win it well, which on her form is unlikely. I'm on her already, but i wouldn't consider her at her price now, as i wouldn't have her favourite in the Solerina vs Royal Kahala. RK wins that + surely she'll travel, she could take both this + the Fairyhouse race in. However, there's still the chance they keep her at home to save the hassle travelling + win more money anyway.
It would be hilarious if Skyace formerly with WPM went onto win this for the Shark- ?600 f'n quid!

mighty blue has jumped very poorly and pulled like a train all the way round and still got within 2 or 3 lengths
not sure how strong that form is at all

If Gauloise was to go off with an SP at odds on, you're absolutely right regarding the 5/1 now compared to (let's say 5/2 for ease) that she may be after it...but that may well be generous.
If she wins that race, as a Willie Mullins trainer, Kenny Alexander owned unbeaten Mare, for a mares novice hurdle, having beaten what's most likely to be some serious rivals, she's going to go shorter.
The main danger so far seems to be Royal Kahala, who put away Hook Up. I think that means Gauloise probably won't go off odds on though? (If she runs, obviously)

They finished in a bit of a heap at Down Royal in what was quite a strongly run race for the grade and time of year. On paper i think most would say that was stronger form than Gauloise and i wouldnt dispute it, but i didnt see real star potential in any of them. They are all pretty well exposed at this stage as nothing special, and none of their profiles look like the horses who have dominated this race. The exception to looking exposed was the other Kenneth Alexander mare Brave Way who finished 3rd giving him a line on the race albeit through 2 different yards, shes an interesting horse.
Im astounded really that people are turning their noses up at Gauloise given the other prospects in this race, and given how obviously she fits the bill, with the best trainer in the game and an owner with the keys to the top class mares factory, but i wont go on about her for the time being, ive said my piece until the Solerina.

Henry said in the Irish Field that she'd be a runner in the Solerina too.
Gauloise
Brave Way
Royal Kahala
Hook Up (?)
Skyace
Atlantic Fairy (Possibly?)
Mighty Blue (wouldnt be shocked to se JOB try it)
Off the top of my head potential runners with RK favourite in my book.
