Have anyone read The Racing Post and Sporting Life stable tours and thought how different the Constitution Hill health issues were reported? Presumably the same words from Nicky Henderson were interpreted and reported totally differently by the two journalists. It appears that the Sporting Life account is probably a bit more honest and factual whereas the Racing Post version brushes over last year's health issues and paints a very rosy picture. IMO of course!
But Colic is just bellyache and general mardiness isn't it ?
Just need to monitor it very closely in horses as it can develop into far more serious issues within minutes, So round the clock hospital monitoring is really just precautionary. Not necessarily a sign he was overly bothered, otherwise they would have had to operate.
I think they say you should not leave them alone for more than 10 minutes at a time.
Not everyone can afford that sort of care unfortunately.
Sounds like Wind Op felt necessary as well as opposed to doing it for the sake of it ?
He does them every Summer on nearly all his horses.
Until they have to say exactly what, we'll never know anything other than they are just trying to make the pipes as wide as possible
Officially they only have to declare 'wind op'. Some are more serious and/or invasive than others and it would be simple to change the rules to specify a particular procedure. They do it in sales catalogues so it shouldn't be a problem for BHA records.

That sort of care is fucking dear for sure. I was at newmarket equine hospital last month and they said the close monitoring of colic is due to it often being a symptom of a much more serious underlying condition - at least I think thats what they said. I get the impression it can be just one of those things one minute and then severe very quickly.
