If he goes NHC, then he’s prob best horse in race & looks one of value plays
Market seems obsessed with finding the Willie horse & not yet seen one that looks good enough to win this
I backed him ages ago for both races thinking he was improving with each run.
I thought he would get a break and come back fresh for the festival, but they’ve kept running him, and imo ruined any chance he might have had for Cheltenham.
To be honest, I think they have made a right pigs ear of it!

Willie sending his best Staying Novice Chasers to the Turners over the BANC..........how much of that is due to the Old and New courses?? New course (Turners) is the more stamina sapping course but also more of a Galloping track so probably a fairer jumping track for the Novices ?

These were his shortest price runners each year:
2023: Appreciate It (running over 2m previously)
2022: Galopin
2021: Asterion Forlonge (running over 2 and a half but 14/1 and not fancied). Monkfish was his best horse and would have won the Turners or BANC although Envoi Allen was fav for the Turners all year and they weren't going to take each other on
2020: Faugheen (not seen as a staying novice and they had Allaho has the best stayer)
2019: Real Steel 13/2 - no runner in the BANC. RS had been running over 2 to 2.5 miles beforehand and not seen as a stayer otherwise they'd have gone the BANC
2018: Invitation Only and Kemboy in the Turners, Al Boum Photo in the BANC. All decent prices. Don't think the 2 in the Turners were seen as his best staying novice?
2017: Yorkhill won the Turners - not a staying novice
Can't be bothered going further back as the statement of Willie sending his best staying novice to the Turners is just incorrect. He's done it once and for good reason.

I know the courses differ in respect of a couple of turns and the gradient's etc.
But there's still a good distance between all the fences, and none are on a bend.

Could it be Willie sends Gaelic to the Arkle as it's more a speed test? I seem to remember they were considering the Supreme for him last year so he's clearly not slow and this season he's showed a lot of pace in his races and blown them away from the front. He has plenty that could fill the gap in the Turners and it must be eating away at him that he has nothing to currently take on Marine Nationale with.
