I Am Maximus is declared for Drinmore novice chase this Sunday. He won last year's Irish National. How does he still qualify as a novice chaser for 23/24 and how long can he be a novice chaser after winning in April 23?
Drinmore will be his final race

2 and 1/2 and first time out would be the concerns. A bigger price in the place market tomorrow would be ideal.
He’s in my diary as a BANC contender but I’d be wary of that race tomorrow. He’s a huge lump and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’ll need the run tomorrow but progress massively over the season. It’s a deep race and I think he’s the type that will need a run.

      • Hoping for a good run from Three Card Brag today, although not too good because I've backed him for the NHC.

        • That was so much better from Corbetts Cross. He settled beautifully. Plenty left I’d say. BANC would look ideal.

Nichk Rockett has excuses - very cramped at the last. Monty’s Star looked like he’d come on for the run too.

          Good race.

          • Cracking race that was

The horse with race fitness won

The other 3 lost nothing in defeat

And wouldn't be surprised if they beat the winner going forward if its over further

Corbetts cross looked the faster horse and will have been fitter.

            • Great run from Three Card Brag first time up. Made a pretty bad mistake down the side but warmed up to the task nicely. Hopefully getting beat by CC sways them towards the NHC now. Corbetts much better, still a bit awkward at a few fences but loads of time to improve in that department.

40/1 stil lthere for the BANC for Three Card Brag, definitely worth considering (with 888)

                • Nick Rockett to be held back for next season is my guess now.

Be one for the NHC next season.

Happy Corbetts Cross returned to form though.

                  • Not sure any of those in behind will reverse the form with Corbetts Cross. They'll all come on for the run, but I think CC is a very classy horse. He could be an absolute beast over 3 miles now that he looks to settle in his races.

I’d be surprised if that happens. If he’d not got caught for room he’d have been in the finish. He’d also likely prefer a better test as well as they didn’t seem to go too fast to the naked eye.

                      • CC looks more turners and those in behind RSA.

I’d agree with that. Willies are not always firing first time out so over further and a run under his belt, I’d like to think Rockett would be closer. Same with all those in behind to be fair. They all need 3 miles and a proper pace which they didn’t get today.

You think re Nick Rockett? Would seem a bit hasty, ran a decent race there, not sure why PT tried to go up the inside was never getting in there. Don’t see why they would pretty much ‘call stumps’ on his season after 1 run

Corbetts Cross won well but I’m not sure about him, seems a little like Gerri and when the taps are turned he’s outpaced and stays on. Looked in trouble turning for home.

Just thinking how Willie operates. Could still run through the season and do a Gaillard Du Mesnil and remain a novice.

They held Minella Cocooner back, I know he picked up an injury but someone told me he still could have run last season from what I heard but was held back, I assume for the NHC this season which is what I've backed him for.

Just thinking out loud really with my thoughts. You might be right but he doesn't interest me now given what Willie has done with recent types like him when beat on debut.

                                That didn't last lol

William Hill taken a view, not sure how connected they are to the Ncneill's but they go 7/1 NHC and shortest of the lot for the Browning.
