  • Worth mentioning that Frontal Assaults jumping certainly hasnt been the best so interesting to see if hes improved in that department, or more of the same

    • I do think Jon Snow chasing form so far is average at best. He could improve further but I'd still be surprised if he beat FA giving weight. His run in the Irish National was very good and he pulled away from a very good horse in GDM even accounting for the weight difference. Yes he'd prefer further but he should still be good enough today to put these away.

      • Well that was good enough for me from Frontal Assault, that I've topped up with a cash bet on him at 13/1. Happier that it also form boosts Gaillard Du Mesnil as well

        • Good shout Lobos. Haven't watched the race as on the school run.

Good news for National Hunt Chase backers. Troytown (won by Run Wild Fred last year) the next step for Frontal Assault, says Gordon.

"He was second in an Irish National the last day and I’d imagine we’ll head for something like a Troytown.

“Limerick would be a bit sharp for him and Navan suits him better.

“I thought he’d need the run today but I’d say the race fell apart when you look at the second and third. I was pleased with what he did and Jack was positive on him.”

            • FA being owned by Giggingstown is a negative for me as they don't seem to like the race regardless of RWF running in it previously. Could end up staying in Ireland for a bigger purse.

They have had at least one runner in each National Hunt Chase race for 10 of the last 11 years, so you can't say that they don't like the race at all

Think you must be thinking of another race maybe?

                  • FA did it without too much fuss didn't he. Super price too He definitely should have been fav. Lots of improvement to come with it being his first run and not his ideal distance. Troytown next up which looks the right race.

                    • ….Frontal Assault into a best price 14-1 NHC (Hills), only 10-1 365, PP/BFSB.

                        • Surprised that 20/1 is freely available on Thyme Hill ahead of his (probable) debut over fences on Friday. He’s the highest rated horse going novice chasing, and if he jumps really well he’ll deservedly shorten. There’s also only one possible target (BANC); he won’t go shorter and if he’s not good enough for the open grade ones then surely they’ll send him back hurdling. Of all the rubbish prices around, this actually feels like an okay one as you can bet each way, albeit highly likely there’s something a bit classier than him come March.

                            I do agree

Only worry is I'm not sure he's the biggest horse, so would definitely need to see how he jumps first

He’ll be a 9yr old by the time Cheltenham comes around, too many years spent hurdling for me. I expect he’ll be found wanting come the spring. He didn’t seem to enjoy those large French hurdles either which makes me wonder if he’ll take to fences at all.

                              • Bookies will be more than happy to take as much as they can on any English Novice chaser this season. They clearly see the Mullins battalion as almost unbeatable and I have to agree. He has so many potential stars. This season more than ever before.
