Was going to bring up both these points, but no need to now, more notable was the French hurdles, he was awful over there over them!

That was the worst decision ever to send him to France. Destroyed his season.

A touch harsh, I'd say. He did finish 2nd in 2 grade 1s after the French run, which is as good as anything else in his career.

Back to the thread, I couldn't have him on my mind for Cheltenham. Not convinced he'll be a great jumper and likely to find a few too good

        • Could be as much about timing as anything, a very deep ground season reappearance in a G1 against French horses race sharp from their big Summer/Autumn festivals would be a big ask for any horse but even more so for a horse who could be better on quick ground…

          • These high rated hurdlers who switch to chasing later in life tend to look good at the beginning of the season but rarely cut the mustard in the spring festivals, rock on ruby and overturn are two classic examples. TH will probably win his maiden and follow up somewhere over winter but he cannot be on mind my mind for Cheltenham.

Exactly that Ista. What were they thinking................money , money, money I suspect. It definitely didn't do him any favours going forward.

May see one or both at Newton Abbot perhaps

McFabulous still has an entry over 2 1/2 on the Saturday too. Is there a novices chase at Newton Abbot?

I was thinking of the race that Bravemansgame started off in last season.

Yeah I suspect you’re right, the pound/euro sign proved too tempting…

                        • Three Stripe Life has raced against Sir Gerhard on three occasions, each time running well but firmly put in his place by Mullins horse.

If they both prove as effective over fences, surely TSL will avoid SG at all costs come next March ?
I feel another 'Related' double coming on once we know their paths.

                          • Not sure if this has been mentioned but whats peoples thoughts on an Appreciate It and Sir G ew double for the turners and the Arkle, I thinking of doing the two bets so if they are kept apart then I dont have to worry about which way round they are. FWIW I think more likely AI Turners SG Arkle but it wouldnt be a strong opinion on trip, I would be strong on how I can see them performing over fences though and I could easily see them fav in them races come the festival. Theres no rush till one gets an entry but wondered what peoples thoughts are, is it too much risk?

I think at this moment in time that El Fabiolo is the most obvious Mullins candidate, all three hurdles runs for Mullins were over 2 miles and I think he looked like exactly that. Sir Gerhard would be your next likeliest candidate for the Arkle although this would only happen if El Fabiolo wasn't up to it/injured. I think either would be a case of if anything finishes in front of either horse is going to be the winner of the race.

Appreciate It - I'm not convinced. How much of the underperformance in the champion hurdle is down to his poor prep and how much is down to him not being the horse we seen in the Supreme previously? I think I'd need to at least see a run before backing him.

                              • The thing is AI beat a weak Supreme, although admittedly he monstered them. But he was also a year older than most of that field. How much more improvement is to come from him? Plus the interrupted season last year, I'm prepared to put AI to the back of my mind until entries & performances prove me otherwise
