Fair enough haha, I am in no way claiming to have any medical knowledge, but the things I am worried about are pretty basic and I dont think I need to be a medical professional to understand.

I dont doubt that everything is being done right to try to produce the perfect vaccine, but that doesnt guarantee anything. Plenty of vaccines in the past have been tested rigorously and thought to be safe, only for side affects to be realised months or years down the line.

My main worry is that they simply cant be positive there will be no side affects in the future. Since not a single person on earth had this vaccine five years ago for example and is perfectly fine today, its impossible for anyone to be certain that there will be no side affects five years from now.

its been pointed out that the same can be said of the virus itself which is true, but if your chances of catching the virus are slim if you follow procedures etc, is it worth the risk of actually getting the vaccine?

It's fine (and normal) for people to be worried about vaccine safety, I just think it's vitally important these concerns don't over-ride the science. Anyone is entitled to make statements about efficacy and safety, but the only people who should be given a platform to talk about these things more widely should be the scientists, IMO.

I’m all for getting the vaccine but what I am against is potentially what Archie is suggesting they may do, is you need to be vaccinated to attend certain things.

Thats just not fair or right in any way to those that are last to be vaccinated. Every age group whether healthy or vulnerable has suffered and I feel for anyone that has suffered more than me.

Doubt they'd do that in this country (in fact I'd go as far as to say they won't)
However, they may do in some countries, in respect of foreign travellers anyway (although that's doubtful too)

Not sure the chances of catching it are slim, even when following the guidance. The number of touch points in a supermarket, at work, in the gym, at the pub, on an aeroplane etc etc make it almost impossible to avoid.

I think the 18-30s are missing out more than most age groups with this pandemic ( I loved my 20s) so the reluctance to help the country/world get back to normal baffles me slightly.

I've had one administered by someone else and they went so far up my nose they were touching brain, and one yesterday where I had to do it myself.

The latter was definitely worse because you know what you have to do and how far you have to go, but you are doing it to yourself! Joking aside though its fine, that cotton bud they used to use to test for STD's - now that was fucking grim!!!

Exactly the right attitude IMO.

I got a test yesterday afternoon because I was coughing all morning. It was only after I'd had the test done that I realised I'd been coughing because I emptied my packed hoover into the bin that morning and inhaled about 5 tablespoons worth of dust!!!! Better safe than sorry I suppose

Can’t see why anyone would have a different attitude. Can understand slight doubt but surely deep down, they know they have to stump up when it comes to it for normality to come back.

Just 2000 spectators at Cheltenham today looks ridiculous. Could easily accommodate 8-10000 very safely. It's a massive course/area.

I know a few people there today who said the same. Said it felt very different/weird and just not like Cheltenham. If 2-5k spectators get the go ahead for March I wont be one bit bothered watching it at mine with my Irish pals who have said they'll come over.

Apparently (I haven't heard it) Tony Calvin half joked on the Betfair podcast that a large catering company were briefed about preparing for a Festival in April. I doubt this is big or relevant news yet, probably just a simple case of contingency planning in uncertain times, but thought it worth mentioning nonetheless. In the wake of vaccines being approved, buying another month to try and secure many many millions of pounds would make complete sense.
