If the likes of Benie and Kettle miss the race and she beats Elimay this weekend she'd go off fav wouldn't she ??

How would you price Saturday? Elimay will of course be all the rage, but surely Shattered Love can't be bigger than 3/1 anyway.

Shattered Love will always hold a special place in my heart after that treble, but I can't get excited about her chances in this. Her best days are well and truly behind her, no?

Sure, she pieced together some excellent form back in 17/18, which culminated in winning the JLT, but she's done what since? Won a listed 4 runner mares chase at Clonmel in 2019 before being well and truly battered by the boys on pretty much every occasion by 20L+ in open graded company.

Mares chases will no doubt be her level moving forward, but she's been omitted from all of Gordon's pre season stable tours and he even said before her debut '....she’s not getting any younger. Her work probably isn’t what it was'. Hardly a ringing endorsement is it.

She's 9 going on 10, post 4 wind ops and is soft ground dependent - what have I missed that makes her attractive as an ante post betting proposition?

If it's over 2 I'd have Elimay fav. Probably treat it just as a prep for SL.

SL and Elimay both rated 152. SL would get 5lbs though. I did SL a disservice too....she's unbeaten in 5 chases against her own sex.

I’d back Elimay with a 10lbs penalty vs Shattered Love.

SL gets thoroughly battered every time she steps into semi decent company. Since 2019 onwards she’s lost by an aggregate of 20L and only seems to win nothing races at Clonmel (the horse she beat this season Coko Beach just beat 75L).

You basically have to go back 3 years to try and piece together a form case. She’s not a terrible bet, but it’s a damn sight closer to terrible than good IMO

But no Mare has yet to get past her in 5 chases ? That is no coincidence and is why they have pitted her in against top Geldings many times as she is better than the average Mare. Yes she's probably on the decline now at her age but she still keeps winning against the girls. Don't think anyone can ignore her with her record.

It's only one run but she was like 2.75ls behind Chris's Dream. Not the worst piece of form.

She won a Mares Chase this season though which is what her 152 rating is based on so no.

That chase win this season was rubbish form. Caberet Queen was 10L back that day and has lost by 29L and 75L since.

Like I said, Elimay could carry a 10lbs penalty and I’d have her over Shattered Love, and I say that as someone looking at a framed picture on my wall that includes Shattered Love! Love the horse, owes me nothing, was very good, but no longer is, all IMO of course

Outside of the above she has been running against the boys and lost a cumulative 241 lengths in 14 starts

Yep, she'll need Soft in the description. Great record over 2 1/2 miles though. Out of first 2 just 4 times in 10 races (just 1of those v Mares). She's a real specialist over that distance.

Barring a festival win 3 years ago what has she done since to make you keen about her chances?

Is 12/1 NRNB a decent price about a ground dependent mare who since her Cheltenham win has won 2/15 races? Both of those were round Clonmel in 4 runner races on heavy ground vs opposition that just isn't very good? Excellent placing by GE, don't get me wrong - but we're talking about beating the likes of Elimay, BDD, PTKO, DDC, Annie Mc etc. Cant see her laying a glove on any of that lot myself.

GL all the same. Like I said before, she's one of my fav mares, I'm just not seeing it.
