  • I'd get the feeling Henderson's initial comments about doing everything possible to get him to the champion hurdle was his disappointment clouding his judgement.

Once he's had time to think about it I'd suspect they'll come to the conclusion that it's not worth the risk running him when they aren't 100% sure he's fully over his issue, and possibly doing a lot more harm than good, as he's just said he wouldn't even consider doing it in normal circumstances.

If they do run him it would be very out of character for Henderson imo.

Yep absolutely they won’t risk him if they ain’t sure.
Think we all know that with Hendo.
      And absolutely right too.
They are giving the horse every chance though, also right too.

        • His latest update is realism kicking in unfortunately. As I said before, I can't see hendo risking him losing or worse.

Yep. I'd say there's a ton of value in the 4.0 laying opportunities on BFX.

            • He gets a lot of (IMO deserved) crap for not running his horses, but in this case I would be 100% behind him. Massive shame for the race of course, although State Man 100% deserves a Champion Hurdle.

Does not sound good at all, I'd be very surprised if he runs now.

                • Doesn't look good. A shame but he's not the first and won't be the last to pull out. Not going to stop me having a superb week as always.

Trainers get a lot of crap for various things from people who don’t know how to train a horse.
Part of a sport involving gambling I would think.

Yep, would be a big shame for the race for sure, and for me a huge loss to the festival.

                    • Hi folks, what will happen to bets in the W/O Constitution Hill market if he doesn't go?

They do indeed. And I'm quite happy to admit I'm one of the people who don't know how to train a horse, but I rarely bet day to day so gambling has nothing to do with my opinion. I also have no financial interest in the Champion Hurdle.

Hard to argue that Henderson isn't a lot more cautious with his horses than pretty much every other trainer though, which gets him some deserved criticism at times. Again, just my opinion.

Back to the point though, I don't think there's many trainers (if any) that would run Constitution Hill in this particular circumstance, let alone Nicky Henderson.

You are absolutely entitled to your opinion as are all of us.
Being cautious is something I have no problem with myself if I understand the reasoning.
But I can see the frustration it may cause.

Back to the point, I would hope you are totally correct.

365 are voiding them, if in multiples that leg’s void & the others stand. Not sure about other bookies…

Why have they voided them?? Bit naughty. The price an individual got in the without market will be long gone.

That makes zero sense. If it's a 'without' market what difference does it make if he goes or not?
