Possibly yeah... Not sure the vibes would suggest that though. Felt like I was reading too much into it for that

Yes, I think after the trainer comments the other day, he’s a likely runner still.

Tough to know to be honest, PT seemed to suggest after the Moscow Flyer he wouldn’t be giving up the ride on IEP (or something along those lines).

He did ride Gaelic Warrior after that though but then left handed and never ran over further than 2m would pose more questions than answers if it was me.

Still think IEP goes Ballymore in that case though. Thought it was weird that the vibes were that HY and DR were both being targeted at the Supreme, DR especially. I thought he was nailed on for the Ballymore after the DRF.

Do one do you think Willie might hold one back for the 2M grade 2 at Fairyhouse?

I read his comments and thought it interesting he referred to sticking to 2 miles, and not naming a race.
Run against 4 or 5 near 150 rated horses or run in the county off 138 ?

If they're good enough to run at Cheltenham then they will... If they're not then he won't care enough to hold them back. IMO

Good point, I was thinking Supreme, but yes County possibility

I thought that too. But Rooster Booster made a great point about the horse perhaps no being suited to the hurdy gurdy of a county (he may have put it more eloquently than this).

Well it’s one of the two 2m races if we believe the trainer comments. As I’ve had a bet on him for the Supreme I hope that’s where he goes. Although I’m not as confident now as I was when placing the bet.

The new course would suit a lot better IMO.
A lot less hurdling in the last half mile when they get racing, and suits a strong traveller with speed and stamina.
The experience of big field handicaps is over played when you look at recent winners.
Most novices won't have had that, even in Ireland when there are big field maidens, 70% are never sighted.

This isn't relevant to anything really, but just a note I've made to myself is that sometimes I'd mark a horse up for running in a big field as a blanket positive for Cheltenham, when sometimes it may have been as an also ran like you've suggested.

Doubt it'll make a huge different going forward but definitely something that needs grading and contextualising each time, which I've probably not done previously.

I'm not sure charlie longsdon gets enough good novices to be running them in handicaps in their novice season, not saying it won't happen but he learnt the ropes from nicky henderson, another who would be unlikely to run a novice in a handicap.
