  • At The Races saying CH was only 0.8 seconds slower than Flightline between 4f to 2f out.

CH will be running in the King's Stand next June unless Red Bull snap him up to give Verstappen some competition or United buy him to replace Ronaldo. The boy can do anything it seems

Even as a massive fan of the horse that seems a strange comparison to do without the rest of the race figures. Flightline and Life Is Good went a suicidal pace early doors.

FWIW, both Constitution Hill & Flightline are freaks, in their respective fields, but these comparisons from different disciplines are already boring me

Yes it's a nothing statement and comparison hence why I took it further with the load of bollox I put after it.

Like comparing boxers with UFC fighters, yes they could somehow meet but either would get chinned in the others' discipline

Yeah, I wasn't aiming the dismissal of it at you personally

I posted similarly that the race is dead as a betting event to me now, but on reflection, if we're talking about what plenty are classing as already one of the greatest of all time, is 4/6 not at least worth considering?

Ante post, perhaps not, but I think if he was 4/6 NRNB or on the day I'd have a long and hard think about wanting to profit from a horse being Frankel-like .... (different class) etc

Won't be for everyone, but I've only had it in my head a few days and think if people are right, and I was one that wanted to see him 'back up' to believe it after the Supreme, I feel he did...

              Anyone else feel the same?
If he's 4/6 on the day, we're gonna need wheelbarrows

Agree. He'll go off 1-3 at best. I'll say 1-4 regardless of what Honey does.

                • Constitution Hill may get the chance to take on Honeysuckle before the Cheltenham Festival, with trainer Nicky Henderson pondering the Irish Champion Hurdle in February due to a lack of domestic options for his star before March.

Personally I hope this doesn’t happen. If CH was to meet Honeysuckle in Ireland and comprehensively beat her (Just throwing out a scenario) then the Champion hurdle at Cheltenham would lose any excitement for me. I’m hoping the first meeting will be at Cheltenham

I'll be amazed if constitution hill goes to Ireland in February, just can't see it happening. I don't want that clash til March, both unbeaten and in top form.

                      • He should definitely go.
The money's good, the race timings good.
                        Ground should be ok ??
                        He looks unbeatable.
And the most important reason. These match ups are usually better sooner rather than later or sometimes they never happen, like fucking boxing, another sport that doesn't help itself.
And we can't criticise the UK trainers and Henderson for not going over to Dublin and then be disappointed when he does.

Looks like it was a good idea we got rid of the contenders hurdle (haydock one next and there's nowhere to go) - better for this division IMO to force them overseas.

But I get the point that it might be better at the festival itself.
                        And let's face it.
He won't go over will he ?
                        He's just spouting.

Those years are summed up brilliantly in Richard Austen's book 'At the Festival - Racing to Glory at Cheltenham in March', recommended for anyone after a book on racing. In my 30s so not around for the Night Nurse, Sea Pigeon days - but the book brought to life the constant battles between them all, sounded immense

I was only saying the other day that Remittance Man, one of Hendo’s best ever chasers, won a bumper and a novice hurdle at Cheltenham on ground officially described as ‘firm’.
Ducking matches and choosing ground appear to have crept in over the years sadly…
