  • Not sure this will interest anyone but a mare with a couple of entries this weekend has really intrigued me.
sacre coeur from Dan skelton has an entry for the elite hurdle at wincanton, this is the one that had me initially looking, and also one for a handicap chase at sandown on sunday, this is the one i'd hope she takes up.
So first look i had I wasn't to impressed but had noticed she'd won her last two starts both chases.
And then i noticed she'd beat apple away last december, in a 3mile handicap hurdle, the last horse to finish in front of apple away.

So I went through her whole career, impressed in her last 2 outings in france, came over to england with charlie mann, 4 chase starts an unseat and a fall, her jumping left a lot to be desired. Then switched to jonjo o'neil and a switch to hurdling, not great form, apart from maybe the victory over apple away.
Now switched to dan skelton, first 2 runs held up in hurdle races, nothing to really see here. Then came the switch to chasing and wow her jumping has improved from those charlie mann days and they're letting her go from the front, looks a completely different horse, so having seen this i thought i better check the breeding, see what that's saying, so she shares the same sire as elimay... and she looks like her.

Having used RPRs to guide my antepost betting for the first time last year, I'd completely ignore what's been given. They're subject to change throughout the season and, imo, more useful on the day of the race when seeing who has recorded the highest RPR or what level that was at. From memory, the Arkle and BANC go to the highest RPR horse and hitting 154 almost guarantees you a win/place in the NHC.

I cashed out Mighty Potter at 16s each way for the Turners last year based on his Down Royal RPR not hitting 139+. Think it was mid 130s and then was changed around the time of the Drinmore decs to 147 for no discernible reason

Love how you've called it unlucky.

Poorly phrased. It looked a better race to me and one which might be subject to upward adjustment.

Agreed. Be interesting to see how joyeau Allen performs at the weekend if he runs.

The Yellow Clay number one based on jockey bookings?
Was Firefox declared for the bumper last time round?

                  • Disappointing decs for the 2m3 race given the entries...

Looks like it JackieMoon33 re bumper booking, mind you the Brickley has 4 runs, 2 wins and a 3rd to his name so we might be seeing a good'n.

Yellow Clay wouldn't be anywhere near a festival list for me, but then this bumper isn't the successful one in that respect.

I'll be checking Molloy's/Crawford's prices + probably taking them both on foolishly.

Yellow Clay is of interest to me for hurdling and that was the discipline I'd have thought he'd start at. Mind you, Gordon did some strange things last year too switching between bumpers and hurdles.

Yeah i guess i'm maybe being harsh, but i'm not a massive fan of the horses coming out of those 4yo only bumpers...

                        • Golden Joy entered for the Fishery Lane on Sunday I see. Possibly following the Teahupoo/Espoir D'allen route this season. Lacks the experience those two had at this stage of their careers though.

Still a very backable TWAR price @ 16/1. Definitely the way to go in view of his entry this weekend imo.

A lot of those in Fridays "Winners" Bumper, usually move into Hurdles quickly afterwards.

The Yellow Clay 2 Bumper runs/wins already
Firefox 3 Bumper runs/2 wins already

Wont be hanging around in Bumpers afterwards, I'd suggest.

Definitely not. I’m just struggling to see the logic behind it! If they’re going hurdling, why not get the most experience into them, especially should they need to drop into a handicap.
