If the handicapper drops his mark after that, then his judgement also needs to be called into question.

He dropped Sire de Berlais 2lb for a similar 'effort' at Warwick, all the time handicap racing exists this approach will continue and there's pretty much zero chance of there ever being a consistent approach from stewards and handicapper...
