Ideal racing style for the new course as well over the 3m. I can't think of the last Pertemps winner who didn't come off the pace. See how much the handicapper raises him for it though and the bookies will put him in short enough.

I don't like entries who won their qualifier as the data doesn't support it, so unless he runs in another and places I'll avoid him.

i think from memory , winners are guaranteed a run and the 2nd and 3rd placers qualify for entry , that's the lot if i recall, plenty time for a couple of stinky runs to loose a few pounds ,

From 2023 any horse finishing in the first four of a qualifying race for the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle has been eligible for the race at The Festival. From 2025 the race conditions will be altered to provide a guaranteed run in the Pertemps Final for all winners of series qualifiers (provided they are within the weights at declaration stage).

Still top 4 but you could finish top 4 and not make it if theirs enough winners declared that are within the weights.

Top weights carries 11st12. 26 pounds to the bottom weight so looking at high 120s for a winner of a qualifier to get in.

I don't think it always gets filled but if you have a horse who finishes top 4 and they are low 130s, they may get bumped out for a winner on a lower mark.

What a lovely weekend at Cheltenham, with a visit to Alan king and Magee equine pre racing
had a bit too much of the loopy juice on Friday. A bit giddy. Back on the bridle Saturday!!!

Might be one for the ‘stupid questions’ thread, but does a winner of a Pertemps Qualifier still need to meet the other, general handicap criteria I.e 5 runs before the festival? Or does winning it sidestep those requirements?
