    Yeah yeah yeah yeah

The last two lines are a song for anyone not hip and happening, or from Sheffield.

I wonder what her NRNB price will be for this?
It doesn’t matter in any way whatsoever but I like to think of myself as one of the OGs for the Benie to the Mares Chase campaign on here! In fact, somewhere on this site on the day they announced the race being added nearly two years ago, I named Benie as the first winner of the race.

I love her. She’s a superstar. And there is no made in training that deserves to be the first winner of a new festival race for mares. She really really should be a three time Mares Hurdle winner and already a Cheltenham legend. Let her win the mares Chase and be the only horse to have ever won both of the big races for Mares at the festival.

I wish I could find the video but it doesn’t exist as far as I’ve looked before. But it was on a live interview with Rich Rick from Matt Chapman on On The Line about three years ago. Ricci was in the studio as a guest and was adamant that if they ever made a mares Chase, he already had the perfect mare for it in Benie. In fact, he said she’s ‘arguably a better chaser in our eyes than hurdler but there’s no reason for her to be over fences when there’s no mares Chase’. So now there is such a race... she absolutely will be running in it at the festival I have little doubt. She’s a good ting lads... a wheelbarrow job!

Haha, we all know saying something first is the most important thing on here

I was just prodding you and charlie to be fair.... pl,aying devil's advocate as I'd love her to be here...

....but today actually was only a tiny positive but reading the pages you'd think Willie had come out wearing a Benie Des Dieux horse costume and starting jumping the rails whilst being interviewed shouting BDD wins all...

Willie has also said very similar comments too hasn't he. Although he did say it about Laurina as well

          • Benie wins by half the track ..... THE END

            • All three would definitely be in the mix," he confirmed. "Going chasing with Benie Des Dieux is always a consideration. Every year, at this stage of the year, fences are an option for her. It's not that we said we're not going over fences – it's just that we went down the hurdle route as the seasons progressed for different reasons. I'll run her in whichever race I'd be hoping that she might go closest in."

The above was comments made by Willie back in October.

I'd be pretty confident the mares chase would be her best chance of a win.

              • A combination of:
                Concertista looking very good
                Salsaretta not looking very good
                Honeysuckle looking good
                Colreevy winning a Grade 1
                Paisley Park back to form
                Going well 'without a run'
                Easiest race to win
Put The Kettle On's connections being bold
This being the 'first' race making it more important than the fact it's a grade 2
Owners letting trainer do what he wants
Cut to favourite despite not being seen

All very, very positive things for Benie Des Certainty to win this race.

Well since she is obviously now the sister of Presenting Certainty, I can't see the point of the others turning up. Hopefully Kev you have done them both as a related win double Certainty!

Is this Rich Richie? She was beaten fair and square by a better mare in Cheltenham last year. Honeysuckle has won open G1s and Benie hasnt. Take off your goggles. If any mare deserves this distinction of winning both mares races it is Honey

The only difference between BDD and Honeysuckle at Cheltenham last year was their rides, so to label either a better mare is unfair to the other. And BDD did win the French Champion Hurdle easily which is an open Grade 1.

Benie won the French Champion Hurdle against the best French mare in years. That alone is more than Honeysuckle has done. That Irish champion hurdle honeysuckle won was a nonsense of a race.

I also think Honeysuckle only beat Benie last year because one was given a brilliant ride and the other was taken wide. Honeysuckle won but really.. Benie should have won that. If that’s fair and square in your eyes, fair enough.

                            • Honeysuckle has won two Hattons Grace and an Irish Champion hurdle (3 Grade 1s)??? Benie has done more than that? Take the blinkers off lads.

I disagree on your reading of last years mares hurdle. Better mare won, even jumped the last poorly and still won fairly comprehensively.

This talk of no mare deaerves to win the mares chase more than BBD is bulls**t to be honest

Honeysuckle won because she had the pace to take a winning position, when it presented itself.

There was plenty of time left for BDD to make up that bit of ground if she was a much better mare, but she didn't.

Not sure there's a reason to see it another way.

                                They're both very good.
