Am I right in thinking Fox Norton did something similar in this race a few years ago?

Yes and then followed up in the Shloer.

          • Wowsers, I also stole 66/1 in running with PP.

            Very impressive indeed

Or a completely different beast on a decent surface, long way to go before that Arkle looks decent. Brilliant effort from Rogue thou love to see horses put it up off those ratings.

i wasnt expecting that , very impressive. well done on that price , certainly a player comes march if he gets similar ground.

                • Arkle form massively franked there by Rouge Vif.

As said on Kevs diary, I wouldn't go OTT on Rouge Vif being hammered by PTKO & FD, because Rouge Vif definitely did not get his ground in the Arkle, in fact he done bloody well to manage 3rd, so the distance he was beat by is irrelevant, IMO.

Obviously the form was still franked, but I wouldn't go as far to say 'massively'.

                    • Yeah been plenty in here crabbing the Arkle form but Rouge Vifs performance there suggests something very different, 66/1 is a nice price to grab but does it not just enhance the chances of PTKO ?

As for Rouge Vif's Arkle running, I've mentioned it a few times but we were with the owners on he day and they were very keen on his chances so they had him fit and ready for the Arkle, I've long held the view the front two (PTKO and Fakir) were very good but that isn't an opinion shared by many...

Agree with you Ista, same as Q, think that's a good form frank.

                        • Could well just be the ground.
Looks like RV need good ground and didn’t get it in March.

He may not get it in 2021, but I’ll take 66/1 to find out!

I must admit I'm a little more excited about the PTKO Tingle Creek bets now too...

Let's not get carried away though, as if any of them flop we'll get shot at.

                            • Still crabbing the form of the Arkle until I see PTKO or Fakir do something. In no rush to be backing these at bigger prices.

Rough Vif was impressive but ground can easily defeat a horse like him

I'm with you all on this too. I'm hoping that RVs performance gives Joseph O'Brien something to think about with FD.
