I agree with this. That was such a good bumper. He’s won by 12 lengths on the Billy Idol. I’d be gobsmacked if AM is good enough to beat him….he looks an absolute aeroplane

    • I'd like to think Jamie codd revises his assessment so American Mike only wins by half a furlong

      • I'm not playing down the performance by any stretch, but didn't Kilcruit do the same thing last season? And then finish 2nd the Sir Gerhard.

Whatever happens it's looking to be a cracking renewal of the bumper.

The race Kilcruit won fell apart didn't it?

Whereas Facile Vega just fluffing walloped them... but still, the Cheltenham Bumper is the Bumper!

          • Would like to think we just saw the best of FV. But dont think we have seen the best of AM yet.Happy to be sat on both at nice prices.

            • Calm down, calm down. Today's field wasn't the strongest. It'll be way harder in March. Won well though.

              • Redemption Day at 10/1 won't last long then!

Patrick bringing him up, says not much between them

American Mike has looked very classy and hasn't been extended yet. Both yards know what it takes for a winner in the Bumper so if both are confident in a horse, you'd trust they are both serious animals in this sphere.

FV has definitely put up the 2 best bumper performances though this year and is a well deserved favourite.

May well have done, I just remember him battering them and everyone calling him the bumper winner, that's all.

Either way we're in store for what looks a decent renewal of the race

                    • Some win that! I’d have expected American Mike to have won that similarly impressively though.

Sets up test another mouthwatering clash, this festival seems like it’s going to be full of them!

Yeah, don't disagree with any of that.

                          I'll let the dust settle.

Right now though, as a chap without anything on American Mike, I'm not sure i'll bother.

Depends what price he is I suppose.

                          • I've never backed the Bumper winner, I'm 58 and have been going to the festival non stop for 40 years. I've backed all the horses at the head of the betting at big prices apart from Mercury. There's your winner.

                            • I'll admit to being biased. Having not got anything on American Mike.

But Mullins has had the upper hand over Elliott this season. Emphatcially.
All 4 bumper winners at Christmas.
Seabank Bistro beat Santonito last weekend, who himself was beat by 2 Mullins runners.
                              Mercurery won at Gowran recently.
Itswhatunites us hadn't ran into a Mullins runner until today.
And American Mike is yet to do so as well.
It's actually hard to find many bumper races this year where Elliott has had the upper hand in a match.
Very strong chance he wins the mares bumper with Pink in the Park tomorrow.

It's clear he's by far the best of Elliotts bumper horses this season.
But the evidence has stacked up all season that Mullins holds the upper hand in the division.

Personally think that'll continue into the Spring

                              • Think that RPR system that someone put up is looking good. Any horse that has a 120+ first run. Facile Vega and American Mike this year are the only qualifiers. Happy I've only backed those two and nothing else. Again, both were put up here at big prices, probably by Saxon Warrior!!!
