Is this a weak race? It feels more open than weak. I can see 3 maybe 4 previous festival winners likely to line up, with a number of others who have run to a much higher level than QB.

Agree that Burning Victory's Achilles heel has always been her jumping. I saw enough last day to give me encouragement but you make a good point re clear sight of her hurdles.

    Glad HHU isnt running

As I’ve posted earlier this yr, I really like QB for this. She’s got that back class bumper form over the track but aside that, she’s GE only entry in this. He’s said right from the early season stable tours that this is her principle objective all year. She’s not been easy to train but Elliott is good with the big target in mind. The owners are inclined to breed & they’ll want this on her CV. I actually think this yrs is quite average compared to the recent past. What price would Honey, BDD, AJ, VVM, Limini, AP all be in this….just looks bang average compared to recent renewals - even last year on ratings

    • Its definitely a weak race

Stormy Ireland is the highest rated mare likely to run

If she wins/runs well then likely to shorten a lot.....and if runs as poorly as last time, then won't go

Feels like a bet with much more upside than risk
I agree, the only danger is that she could still go even if beaten.... however even then you'll be on a 25/1 Willie Mullins mare, at maybe worse odds than you could have gotten.

More likely she wouldn't go though, so I agree it's a sensible bet.

        • I’m thinking of supplementing my secretary to run in this race. Reckon she’d have a chance against this lot.

          • For some context, this is a bit of history for the race linking to winner & the top rated. Defo a lower class of mare this year:

Top rated BDD 151 fell at last ahead

I'm slowly coming round to her tbh

Think the race will be run to suit hold up horses with stormy Ireland and heaven help us likely to set a strong gallop

She doesn't look straight forward to me. Quirky mare. Sweated up last time and high head carriage when she was asked for her challenge. She could get really worked up at the Fez and I wouldn't trust her resolve against better horses in the Mares.

She also has a habit of hitting one which would be a big concern.

                      • Hoping Burning Victory runs well tomorrow but I really like Queens Brook for this race. She hasn't been seen for 3 months but I think there's bags of improvement to come and she's still being overlooked.

                        • Burning Victory has first time cheekpieces tomorrow.
Hopefully that will be another help on the jumping front.
Big day for her and any realistic chance at the festival.

Would be wary of the queens brook 33-1...She might well need the race, Gordon mentioned that she takes a bit to get fit...

                            • Queen Brook not strong in the market at the moment but 33/1 to win today and the mares hurdle got to be worth a go. Burning Victory isn’t exactly bomb proof.

Queens Brook to lose today and win the Mares is the bet again then
