    Blasphemy!!

Stormy Ireland torpedoed this, she’s more than a suitable main contender, as is festival winner Burning Victory. Both running with credit over the Xmas period render a switch largely pointless IMO.

I actually still can’t believe TMSG is 6/1 for this… as others have alluded to it’s hers to lose IMO and that was before both Gauloise’s showing today & SWIW not showing up. Stormy Ireland will bolt off in front & set it up for her. The way she stayed on up the hill last year you’ll need a decent Mare to get by her. De Bromhead has said all season this is her main target so I’ve fully expected her runs so far to be below par, tuned ready for the big day in March

      • An awful race - a bunch of very average mares this season.
TMSG prob looks the most likely winner

Totally agree. I've already backed her AP but can feel a big bet coming on for the week itself. She has everything going for her

If she wins they should blast out Ewan McVicar in the winners enclosure, everyone sing ‘tell me something girl’, whilst throwing a few shapes and necking a pint

"Cheltenham is our main plan if the ground is soft enough. If not, we'll sit on the fence and might well find something for her in France."

It will be soft enough as they never let day 1 anything firmer than GS....and almost certainly GS and soft in places.....or soft with be target with watering....depending on weather fast

But has to be worry re last run at festival and TMSG appears well ahead (+3 on RPR, but that's with a length to find for 5 pounds with Henry out of form, race going against her, being trained for race all year.....and will love the hill

TMSG one of my main bets for day one and still adding in doubles.....fingers crossed on sound and stable form

                  • 3lb (or even 5lb) is just one fluffed jump.

The more of a staying test that this becomes, the better it will suit Royal Kahala. Current prices are about right but those of us who advised and took 20/1 about RK are comfortable as it stands.

                    • They do have to get as a minimum G/S on first day but as we know, on several occasions, the times of the races on day one have suggested the ground is quicker than the 'official' going. RK may not get the going she requires to be at her best.

                      • Or it could be genuinely soft as per the last two years.
Given the guaranteed interference from the course in the event of a dry spell the probability is of easier than G/S.

                        • There's a new man in charge at the course this year. Who knows how he'll go about things.
