As said before, If the current theme of top novice hurdlers going chasing continues then she will be facing the same horses every year, all of whom have proved to be not in her class.
So barring any injuries she could be the first to win 4.
Best price now EVENS for Honeysuckle, 4/5 in a place. Probably 4/6 on the day with most of the opposition scared off. And she's still getting 7lbs off the boys.
Evs right now has the look of a proper bet, we knew she was the best around before today, all we needed was for her to prove she's still that good an retains her racing appetite which she did in spades.
There's pretty much no chance that anything can come out the woodwork and be a serious challenger and assuming she proves her health in her final prep she is likely to come here a very ward order, I'd probably have her around 2/5.
The game needs champions and no question she is one even if it means limited punting opportunities...

Big crowd today and many went for one reason only
Evs still useful for doubles and other multiples
Yep agree, but at the same time we need our big races to be competitive, otherwise we have a problem. Having the top races at the festival being near walkovers ain’t healthy for our sport.

They aren't walkovers though, it's just looking like this one in just this era and even then that's still a bit of a call 3 1/2 months out. Nobody gave a shit when Messi was banging goals in left right and centre in Spain, making a mockery of otherwise decent defenders who just weren't close to his level. Frankels races were walkovers, who spends a single second caring about that?! People just enjoyed knowing they were watching greatness. That's how i'm choosing to see Honeysuckle, I want her to smash them all in March and know i've seen a great.

But she isn’t a messi or a frankel though is she. She’s just the best around not the best ever and that’s the point I think people are making. You can only beat what’s around of course but it’s fair for people to want tougher opposition for her like a faugheen or hurricane or even an Annie Power or binocular or dare I say a rooster at his peak. Don’t get me wrong I love her to bits but the second best in her time so far has been who? Sharjah? I agree with previous posters this race is in a little trouble for the reasons people have made and we seem to have either the choice of uncompetitive races and celebrating a high 160 horse as if she was a messi or frankel or without her settle for sub standard races which personally doesn’t feel like a great choice.

Well it was a near walkover in March and it looks like she will be facing similar opposition next March, so likely 2 near walkovers on the trot.
As for seeing a great……possibly, but beating this current opposition? Not so sure myself.
Personally I think Rachel and Honeysuckle are a great story and advertisement for our sport
Just enjoy them
There are other ways of having a bet on the race
Aspire Tower each way @ 50/1 is too big a price in my opinion
Only has to make up 1 1/2 lengths on last year to do so
Might improve for the extra year too
Honeysuckle just wins this doesn’t she. Ways I’m looking for an angle into it are… have her in a couple of multis, doubles, attempt some roll ups & probs. back something in the W/O market nearer the time. Not worth trying to oppose her with anything big priced in IMO, especially given the allowance she has too.
Absolutely gutted to see what happened to Latest Exhibition today - was a gutsy horse who have races his all. Thought he would have gone v.close in the Stayers. RIP.
I understand why people feel the race isn't competitive/the opposition is weak, but doesn't this often get said when a horse is dominant? I've heard the same said for Istabraq, Best Mate etc. Even looking through Big Bucks, Inglis Drever and who they beat, there's weren't many world beaters because BB or ID were winning the big races so the other horses got limited recognition. If Honeysuckle does go on to win more, the same will (and is already starting) be said for her.
Well my monmiral bet looks incredibly dead in the water, Paddy Power seem to have switched on a bit with regards to cash out. 1/3 of stake available, Considering taking it as I don't think Nicholls will want to run that horse over hurdles again after seeing that.

I think it’s one thing when the dominant horse is a 180 + horse and another when it’s a high160 horse. I also think the allowance factor comes in as many are not fans of it.

I must confess Ista, though I wholeheartedly agree with your points here, I would struggle to believe she’d go off 2/5, even an hour before the off. Without doing any research at all, and just trying to remember instinctively over the last 2 or 3 decades to go the greats of Istabraq, Hurricane Fly, See You Then and even dual winners like Buveur D’air & Hardy Eustace - I’m reasonably confident none of those went off any shorter than tops 4/6 on the day. I might possibly be wrong, but I’d be confident none shortened past the 1/2 odds mark.
Yes, at this stage it appears she has very little to beat, and you could make a decent argument that she wouldn’t even need a 7lb allowance to win the race, but unless there’s only a very small field of say 5 or less horses, which there definitely won’t be, she’ll be going off around 1/2 at the very shortest I would take a considered ‘guess’.
