  • Thanks for taking the time to repsond to my staking question YoungHustler TiggerRoll Saxon Warrior jono Spectre Quevega ComplyOrDie Faugheen_Machine Odin ToniC darlojim Zachx02

If i could figure out how to add multiple quote snippets to one post i may have given a more structured reply...

The original thrust of my question was around how to ascertain how much a person fancies a bet just by the pts they allocate to it. 2pts means different things to different people, so its hard to grasp that without trying to find what their bank is by trawling through diaries.. If everyone could just move to the way i do it, and allocate their full bank as 100pts, that would be lovely, thanks. Not too much to ask for a 6th post it it?

But as i see often happens on here, the discussion mushroomed into a more wider ranging, and ultimaletly more interestng and informative discussion . Too many good points to respond to. So many ways to skin a cat.

In terms of how i skin my cat, think i'll be sticking for now to a similar method to Saxon Warrior and YoungHustler, with 3 or 4 points allocated per race on a couple of selections, generally with a target return in mind, plus a few doubles/trebles across the day/week and maybe the odd life changer for fun. Saxon's comments about enjoying the jeopardy of winning or losing (i.e. the "sport of it") is exactly how i feel. A book approach would never work for me, it would just be less fun and i dont think i would enjoy the Cheltenham week as much. Much respect for the effort it takes for those that do use that approach though.

      • Quick one. With handicap hurdling horses having to have three runs over hurdles prior to getting a handicap mark to run in a handicap, is it the same that Chasers have to run 3 times over fences to be allowed to run in a chase handicap and be given a mark? Therefore novice chasers would need three runs over fences prior to Cheltenham to run in a handicap there?

          Yep.
depends on the grade of the handicap and any specific conditions, but all Festival handicaps require three runs I believe.

            Cheers Q.

Was wondering this as I've seen a lot of horses priced up in the handicap markets who only have one run over fences yet. Its going to be tricky for a lot of them to get the runs in and be fresh for the festival

            • Seen a lot of people mention using burner accounts when requesting bets on twitter, is there a reason for this and is it something that y'all would generally advice to do? I have a few requests lined up so thought I'd double check before contacting. Cheers

I presume the reason is the expectation that bookies will link Twitter accounts to winning requests and therefore put up a lower price.

My main Twitter account is in my name. I fear bookies will link the two and learn not to add my requests or put a lower price on them if they are regularly successful.

Eg 365 even ask for your username when asking for something to be added to a market so I just say any random thing.

I have 2 accounts, but I only use one for requesting bets which is practically anonymous other than my first name, I don't think it matters if you request with any bookmaker other than bet365 as Exar Essay mentioned as they ask for your username but you can probably just give any random one but I've not actually tried just always used my actual username

If you request a horse added to a market for example with 365 it gets noted our your account that you requested it which is why people would avoid doing so.

                      • I have a couple of twitter accounts for this purpose. I try not to ask too often and usually only ever Sky and WH as they normally get back quick and don't ask questions. B365 want your account username so I tend to only ask via that if the other two come back with desperate odds. Just because your paranoid it doesn... etc... :tinfoilhatsmiliething:

                        • Quick one hopefully. Can anyone advise if PP turn cashout back on for ante post festival multis after the first leg has settled? Or is it once ante post cashout is turned off when they go NRNB, thats it for good?

Cant recall what happened last year...

Same question but for Bet365 please? I've never had one going that far so wouldn't know, but just in case...

Last year, B365 keep cashout throughout. And they treat Antepost and NRNB as having the same value. So if you bet GDC at 7/1, you now have a cashout profit because he is 7/4. For arguments sake, say he goes 5/4 NRNB, your cashout profit will increase again; B365 don't 'penalise' your cashout value for it being under antepost rules.

The Tank PP are the other way round. When they go NRNB, your antepost cashout dies, or it did last year anyway.

Thanks Exar Essay . Yeah, expecting cashout to disappear when PP go NRNB up until the off, but thought I recalled it got switched back on if/when the first leg of an ante post multi had won. Probably dreaming that though!
