I'll be honest, I won't back her @ 4's for that race, not when I have her at 33's for an easier race at the festival!

The race itself will be a watching brief for me, there are too many questions that need answering. It was tongue in cheek, I'm more 'hoping' than 'hopeful' about this race for her, but still expect a bold showing in the mares novice all the same.

As it is the 'stable bonus race' IF somehow she did end up winning it she'd be straight to the top of the mares' novice betting that I don't doubt.

I think battleoverdoyen wins it. But I'm interested to see if iv missed something and there's an angle. As in all honesty he's not had the chance to beat very much.

He'll need to win IMO, to have any chance in the Ballymore. I like him a lot and have him covered for the race, though would not want to be taking 7/4 about him myself for the race on Saturday.

        • Dorrells Pierji 25/1 looks a big price suppose he wont be running. Keen early, travelled well when looming on the outside but didn't see it out coughing post-race. On my shortlist for MP and AB.

7/4 looks big to me almost too big as if they know due to the ground he's not 100 % going to turn up.

Interesting call. Iv got him down as just not very good tbh. But he's a grand old price and that seems sound reasoning to me.

              • From Barry Geraghtys blog today r/e Birchdale:
Those whole experience is sure to bring him on again and he’s a horse you’d be looking forward to. Comparisons with Champ are inevitable. Champ probably has the better form in the book, but this fella is improving and should continue to do so. It wouldn’t be easy to pick between them at this stage

                • Sounds like Barry fancies Birchdale, If they get another run into him and he impresses be hard to see him getting off him.

I think Battleoverdoyen will win this as long as GE is happy to run on the ground. He could frighten off a few too. You would think that this was the right trip for Commander Of Fleet which does make it interesting as to which he runs. Too far for Relegate and Annamix in my opinion so I make Dunvegan the main danger. If this cuts up, 6/1 could be an eachway bet to nothing. No surprise if Dorrell's runs and disappoints with an eye toward the MP.

On dunvegan. His bumper form is good but he's well held by the mullins good ones. He was beat by pallasator over hurdles I can't knock that too much. As it was too much too early.

But has he improved out of all recognition. Or has he just beat a poor bunch this year?

I think that the feeling is he has improved. Paul Townend was super confident the last day and I remember Ruby being asked for his best bet that day and him saying, he didn't know about their horses but words to the effect that PE thought Dunvegan was a certainty. And, as you say, some of his bumper form was smart.

...Dungvegan is generally shorter for the Albert Bartlett than he is this. If anybody is interested, the 25-1 ‘any race’ with Hills could be the way to go.

                              Scooby,

Im told the Mullins camp think Dunvegan is a serious horse. Willie waxing lyrical about him a month or so ago.

I think they like him - but he's not a Mullins horse - Fahy trains
