As much as I want Lalor to win a Cilaos Emery return and win would be epic for so many on here
I wouldn't say he'd be shorter, not after that last run, but I do think some, including myself I might add, would have more respect for the horse if trained by one of the others, and that is no way to say Kayley Woollacott is not capable of winning an Arkle with Lalor, the difference is the other trainers you mention have done it over time with experience and have earnt that respect. I wish her and the team all the best, I am not on the horse myself, and fair play if she manages to pull it out the bag with Lalor.

I think your opinion would be a common one and that makes me even more confident he would be shorter if trained by a big name

True, though I'm not sure the bookmakers would view it quite like I have tbh. They're a bit more savvy than that! It's an open race still IMO. Couldn't see him being shorter either way.

        • Is there any news on Cilaos Emery? Is he still doubtful or turning up now?

Makes sense to me... people over thinking the 'need' to switch.

If he was an Arkle horse they'd have run him as well as LR. Not like JP is adverse to whipping out the multi coloured hats.

Favourite for JLT or 2nd fan in Arkle.

I doubt the decision has actually been made yet though?

            • Doubt it has either Kev!

Thom Malone tweeted me back and said he took Patrick's reply as "almost out, but not quite out yet" on CE.....

              • Can't help feeling that Knocknanuss is the forgotten horse of this race. Granted he is a pretty hairy ride but , as they say, all the best two-milers live on the edge and he certainly has an engine. For me, he is an out and out two miler and was always going to find it difficult giving Master Dino 5 pounds over almost 2m 4f; even so it was a really good performance (he also gave the 139 rated Good Man Pat 10 pounds and a 7 length beating in the same race). Got it all wrong at the first at Leopardstown but if he gets as far as and (somewhat) settled down the back at Cheltenham he could well force a few jumping mistakes. Not a horse you really enjoy watching if you've backed him (well,,until afterwards) but 14/1 is tempting

They will give him plenty of room anyway.

Probably has, unless we get a torrential 10 days, and ground like last year.

Ornua a potentialy fly in the ointment?
They could well get in each others way.

He's certainly not been mentioned much in the 2000+ posts so far but with the race the way it is, can't knock anything really as an each way flyer!

Was that a new interview then? Confirming it’s a pulled muscle rather than ligaments?

                          • Wonder where the ligament issue that was reported in the Racing Post came from. Did he sound positive or negative Boopa? Or is that a stupid question given it’s Willie we’re talking about...

Could well be an issue Kev. There are a few front runners and that is the danger; happy to take 14's though about him My other/bigger fancy is Glen Forsa and I can't help feeling that the race may be set up for more of a staying type (as it often is)

                              • He doesn't know. He wasn't asked about CE he said it on his own accord. There's still hope at least.
