  • Cheltenham weather forecast

As a fairly new member who lives right next to Cheltenham racecourse I thought I would give everyone regular weather updates if people are interested.
Today I look out the window and see a blanket of white snow. It's only a sprinkling but forecast today is that snow Will get heavy with temperatures staying in the minus figures.
The predicted forecast for race week is mild weather so hoping the festival is not effected.

Are the Covers on Nick? I know they wouldn't wont the festival cancelled big money for Cheltenham area 2. Guess most of the horses will be there already. Cant have warm weather every year.

Good stuff mate. Now get your wellies on, get down to Argos and get one of these, you're going to be a busy man over the next two weeks.

Covers are on and yes it would cost the town of cheltenham lots for it to get cancelled. Apparently the bars and restaurants make more money in festival week than the whole of the rest of the year.
Horses don't arrive until the weekend before so Cheltenham stables will be fairly quiet for now.

                Soft ground this year surely?

The drainage at cheltenham is unbelievable and the forecast end of next week is mild so I still think it will be called 'Good to Soft'. I'm not a ground expert but normally when they have the covers on a few days before then it's generally dead ground.

The snow is forecast to be gone by Sunday. That still gives us 9 days to the Festival. With more normal conditions next week, I think its nailed on to be Good to Soft on the first day, as usual, albeit slightly more dead than usual.

We have all got to be optimistic and just have the ‘it’s going to be ok’ attitude. This storm will pass and conditions due to get warmer

Cheltenham weather update - it snowed here all day yesterday and have woke up this morning to a heavy blanket of snow. Forecast is for it to get milder after Monday.
