Arkle 2020

It’s between Notebook and Cash Back in my eyes and at the current prices I know what way I’d side.

The way Notebook found more at Dublin I cant see Cashback beating him. I know a few of you have your doubts about Notebook but favourites have a very good record in this race and he has done everything right except going a bit bonkers at the DRF. He has never encountered hearing and seeing 60000 people jumping and shouting all around him before but neither have his rivals so it’s a still very open race but if Notebook copes then he wins. I am getting so excited!!!!

I’d say he definitely can find the improvement to reverse the result. As I’ve alluded to Cash Back is more unexposed & less utilized at the top level which can make a massive difference at this level!

We’ll hopefully find out in 2 weeks but I think it’s between Notebook and Brewin but fear Espirit may spoil the party

1 length shouldn’t equate to 5/2 vs. 6/1 which is my main point!

Notebook bolting before the start and his superior time performance at Xmas accounts for the difference.

It’s not entirely deserved imo. In such a weak renewal Cash Back is criminally underrated. Fair play to those on at fancy prices but at current scores the market has it wrong!

My money is down and I’ve spent all my chips so I’m happy backing Notebook. That said he struggled in last years Ballymore but at least he’s experienced Cheltenham which Cash Back hasn’t, it’s unique and apart from Grand National day there is no comparison in terms of noise and visual distractions. I’ve got a gut feeling Espirit wins

Cash Back has a higher ceiling which I’m willing to take a chance on!

Notebook has touched that ceiling, Cashback hasn’t. It won’t be a bad thing if Cashback does win and I will hopefully be one of the first congratulate you if he does, he’s a good horse with a solid chance but I think he will finish 4th

Wa taking neutral natural improvement of the two for example I’d lean towards Mullins sole Arkle hope! Especially with soft going!

Most top novices should have the potential to have a higher ceiling to their future form, particularly with Grade 1 races coming up at the spring Festivals.

Notebook and/or Cash Back could easily put up their best runs of the season in the Arkle.

It’s also Saturday night after a dismal 6 nations performance by Wales so my alcohol consumption combined with an emotional mudslide of having backed Master Tommyfucker, Just A Sting and Keep Wondering should be taken into consideration when responding on my behalf. I will probably have a change of mind and heart when sober in the morning

Fakir.

We are going to Cheltenham with him, but we haven’t decided between the Arkle and the Marsh just yet. All the rain that is around at the minute will be a big help to him. It was a real pity not to get a run into him at the Dublin Racing Festival, but we thought it was best for the horse not to risk him on the ground. We’ve been delighted with all of his runs over fences so far and would be happy to have another go at Notebook if we end up in the Arkle. Wherever he goes, he’s our best chance of the week.

Just can’t have Fakir at all, in either race.

Genuine good horse, jumps well etc.

But been getting weight all year until the big day. Can’t see him winning either race but say he’d have more chance in the Arkle than the Marsh imo.

Have to agree with that hes had his chance to beat notebook, certainly wont do it in the arkle without the allowances
As a notebook man im more worried about cash back as he only has a length to find, having said that it was notebook finishing stronger of the 2 at DRF

Notebook bolted before the Cash Back race....and still won.....if he gets to start ok, then has to have huge chance

I think they went a real lick in that race and still finished off. The jumping was pretty spectacular. I think slower horses who either sit in behind or can't go the pace are going to be a bit disappointed if they are expecting the pace to totally collapse.

What actually happened with notebook at DRF? I saw comments on here but didnt physically see it..people have drawn some confidence from it aswell oddly enough!

Horse bolted before race....went wrong direction and ran couple furlongs.....Jockey managed to pull him up, so not as bad as many....but def cost energy......and then won

At Cheltenham, believe there are plans to prevent this, so in theory gives him some more lengths over Cash Back

Cant see British horses as good as those 2 and Fakir has pounds to make up now.....so Notebook still for me

Like most De Bromhead horses, he'll probably miss the parade ring walk and go straight down when the others are there. Might not help him. Earplugs?
