2026 Mares Hurdle

I'd have no interest in her in the Champion Hurdle personally. And would like to think Gordy isn't really that stupid... Although he probably is
Me neither. Stayers, yes. Mares still much more likely.

Gordy has at least 3 others for the stayers at this point, nailed on for the mares imo

That figure could take a hit this weekend though. Nothing is nailed on in this game. That much we know....

Absolutely but you would imagine at least 1 of the three will get there and Willie will be weak in the mares division for once should Lossiemouth run in the CH. Almost a penalty kick at that point for wodhooh in the mares

Would he run both Wodhooh and BDA in the race though? That could be the dilemma. A nice one for Gordon to have though. They could of course send BDA to the CH again if they run out of time to send her chasing.

…..pushed out after her first run and now 40-1 for this, might be worth keeping an eye on her following the Cromwell update;

Sixandahalf
2.22 Leopardstown, December 27/1.22 Leopardstown, December 29
National Maternity Hospital Foundation Handicap Hurdle/Irish Stallion Farms EBF Kerrymount Mares Hurdle (Grade 3)

I’m not certain where she’s going to go. We were very disappointed with her run at Sligo [beaten at 1-3] – it wasn’t her true running. She's had a bit of a break since and has come back fresh, so I'm very happy with her now.

The 11/4 with Denise looks a standout price at the moment (2/1 with some bookmakers), based upon her drift for the CH after Sir Ginos impressive return yesterday

Obviously there’s the caveat of CH or CC for Sir , but Lossies got to beat BDA shortly and if not doing so, surely reverts back here…..If she gets beat by BDA price goes 7/4 immediately

29th at Leopardstown looking a big day for the 2026 mares contenders. Be interesting to see what the markets look like at the close of play..

Lossie and BDA clashing
Wodhooh and Sixandahalf clashing
Air Of Entitlement running in the big 2m4f handicap

Wodhooh going for that race is a decent indication she's heading this way surely? If they were genuinely considering Champion Hurdle then this would've been an opportunity to have a crack.

Hoping both her and Lossie both win on Monday and head their separate ways at Cheltenham!

Not sure. If BDA wasn't in the equation I'd say yes but splitting them makes sense as both could well bring home big bucks. Where they end up depends on what happens tomorrow imo. Very exciting.

Big day for the Mares Hurdle market today folks with Wodhooh, Lossiemouth and for those each way thieves (me included) Air of Entitlement

That 50/1 with Denise for Air of Entitlement, which stood for a fair while has now gone and 28/1 best in town…..what are we expecting today with AoE running in a handicap?

She's just very good isn't she. Always seems to hit a flat spot in her races but just comes back on the bridle and does enough every time. Haven't got to the bottom of her yet.

Mares this year, Stayers next year imo... Assuming Lossie goes Champion Hurdle.

I'd say if they didn't have Teahupoo, Wodhooh would take her chance in the Stayers, where I think she'd be even better suited up to that trip.

The course change on this race has worked out in her favour this year. She’ll relish the long run, all she does is find loads.
