2026 Champion Hurdle

Mullins doesn't have another chance in champion hurdle if lossie loses. But they may prefer that so she goes mares 👍

Yeah, shocker isn't it. I'm sure he's come up with one though if he needed too.

I think anzadam may be underestimated tomorrow. He will improve for his last run and finishing a length behind golden ace isn't bad form especially when you consider that lossie and bda best distance is over 2m4f

Would’ve liked to have seen Danny onboard instead of paddy tbh but agree he should still be improving and come on for his reappearance.

Dont think its ability thats his issue

Its the gap between his ears

I would love to see Anzadam win well, as I would like to see SIr Gino in the Champion Chase, and right now it’s probably the only scenario that sees that happening, if Anzadam convinced the owners he could win the CHurdle.
Can’t see it happening though, just don’t look good enough. This is his last chance to prove he’s a CH horse imo.

Is it just Gordon’s form and her performance last year? Gordon did say she’d need the run … mind you pacemaker of the year is in the race, so who knows. It’ll be interesting to see what the late money says.

She opened 5-1 and 9-2 general when Gordon was already flying.
I was shocked as I thought 3-1 was fair.

Surely Anzadam here at 8/1 is an each way bet to nothing? IMO only has the pacemaker and underwhelming irancy as dangers for a place?

Think it's more the concerns they have re Lossie on the Ground, faster track and there very likely being a breakneck pace.

Lossiemouth...

There’s been no bad news since Punchestown, we’re not owners who go contacting Willie every day for bad news so we’re very much looking forward to it.

“Gordon (Elliott) is sending his good mare (Brighterdaysahead) to take her on and the inside track at Leopardstown over two miles will be plenty sharp for her and it will probably be ground worries more than anything else.

“We wouldn’t mind a drop of rain and we do think she has a preference for softer ground, but if she is to justify her price at the head of the Champion Hurdle market, she is going to have to take care of business.”

Agreed and I think he could win today. If you re-watch the Newcastle race he absolutely needed it, much like many of the Closutton horses on their first run this season. He cruised into contention up the home straight but couldn't go on and to me it looked like lack of race fitness. I expect him to be much better today. The thing I fear is Betterdaysahead being an absolute Leopardstown specialist. That amazing performance 12 months ago was her only run at Leopardstown to date and it could just be that the track absolutely suits her. Of course she also has the pacemaker today ...................
